Ibaka is only good under Nurse, haha. As far as Gasol goes, sure, I don't think we wanted him back. But losing both? That hurts big time. Gasol probably did a lot of things for us that we didn't even notice. I still appreciate both of them a lot. They did a lot of good to contribute to a championship team, and a team last season that was a whisker away from another final 4 appearance.

Who's the #1 player Toronto cant legitimately target?
Harden is already available
KAT could want out any day now but probably more noise around the draft/free agency.

I wanted the Raps to go after Embiid in the offseason because I felt he could kill two birds with one stone (MVP caliber 1st option on offence while also providing similar skills that Ibaka and Gasol did defensively). He looks to have taken that next step into top 5/MVP level player so it's highly doubtful the Sixers would:

1. Trade him within the division
2. Trade him period vs 2 shots a game even when you barely have a team Simmons.

Two interesting names that come to mind are Barrett in NY and Wiggins in Golden State.

I can see both of those teams being interested in a player like Lowry. Acquiring one of those 2 or both somehow should be the way the Raptors go.

Lowry, Powell and 1st for Barrett.

Lowry, Watanabe, Len for Wiggins

New York isn't trading their just drafted 3rd overall pick for an mid-30's PG, a bad back-up C and an unknown. Do you think the Raptors would trade Cunningham or Suggs for that if they had those guys?

Wiggins contract is just horrible and it handicaps the Raptors chances of getting back into title-contention. Wiggins at his contract is definitely not worth it.

FVV and Siakam need to be built around not dealt. Masai knows this.

If somehow the Raps can add a first option scorer\leader, this team instantly becomes a contender again. Both of these players are the Pippen and Grant to a player like Chicago had in Jordan. Both above average complimentary and second options to an elite leader.

Lowry was that but is getting up there in age. Add a player like Harden and this team instantly turns it around and is a contender in the East again.
I tend to agree but it also requires a true centre for foundation. Siakam does not control da rim. But he is a great 2nd/3rd option with fred. We are 2 players away from competing. A strong forward who can make key shots. And a board man centre. Hopefully Lowry is not done by time we got those 2 pieces.

Siakam as go to guy will never work. Same with fred. But both those guys can flourish still.

Pipedream is John Collins for me. He's a very good player and fills a need. He's restricted though.

However, there are still good players that could be had. I like that Victor Oladipo is having a nice rebound campaign. He's a good player who'd be a good fit whether we retain Lowry or not.

An underrated target could be Richaun Holmes. I like the big man's game.

Some others:

1. Evan Fournier
2. Spencer Dinwiddie
3. J.J Reddick
4. P.J Tucker
5. Kelly Oubre

All of these players are the types that can get us into the playoffs but aren't not#1 options in the playoffs.

Does Washingtons bad start make Beal available? I think that'd be the biggest pipe dream imo. Also, saw some stats the other day showing that Wiggins has been a top 5 defensive player in the league so far and he's gone up against some of the best players in the league. Good to see him playing up to his defensive potential finally because I always had him above Parker his draft year because he was the better defender.

The Nets just started to compete again after that nightmare Celtics deal. Now under new ownership and management, they’re willing to go through that hell again in a few years.

This better result in a championship for them.

Hard not to like this guy. Career been up and down but he’s got a good mindset and always a candid interview.

Hopefully he sticks around for a while and continues to develop. Offensive game still needs a lot of polish but he’s a great defender, hard worker, and a great competitor. Glad to see him getting some run.

Durant is an all-time great player/scorer but wow it seems like he's always had star help.

OKC: Young Harden + Westbrook and then later with prime Westbrook
GS: Added to a 73-9 win team
Brooklyn: Just Kyrie and the team has been struggling relative to expectations, but now he gets Harden as well.

In his 12 year career, Durant has only spent 3 seasons (first 3 of his career) without another all-star/multiple all-stars/multiple all-stars+another mvp

Leonard might have benefitted from playing on veteran, winning teams but he's never had the chance to play next to a prime Curry, Westbrook, Harden, Kyrie.

Lebron is 100% going to be the nets who would have been much better off not going after Harden.

He will beat them and be confirmed and undeabtlable GOAT with 5th ring.

I really dont want him to keep winning with MJ my favourite but hes going to win with Harden/Kyrie trying to be number 1 option when they shouldn't with KD being one of two guys to he the best player any given series even with lebron playing (Kawhi the other)

Seems like a great deal for the Nets. How many of those picks/swaps will actually be early picks?

Allen and Levert are good players, but easily worth sacrificing for Harden.

Obvious hole in their roster now is that Jordan is their starting C lol.

Durant can only appear to the be the best player in a series vs Lebron when he's with a 73-9 win team.

When given the exact same co-star that Lebron had with the Cavs, KD can barely get the Nets into a playoff spot. Harden makes this closer because Lebron and AD would have taken care of KD and Kyrie pretty easily. Harden is a legit top 5-7 player in the league and it'll take the Lakers depth after their big 2 outproducing the impact of Kyrie (not that hard tbh especially with Harden now taking shots away).

KD also outplayed Lebron in 2012 but had zero support from Westbrook and Harden. Man was dropping 31 ppg on 50+ shooting. He was the best player that series for either team but his support failed while Lebron had Wade/Bosh/Miller(hit 7 3s one game I think) all tep it up and get job done along with his great performance.

Plus 2017 lebron had Kyrie + POV while KD had Curry + Klay + Dray. The situations reversed with KDs stars supporting him well with Lebron not getting good support outside of Kyrie who matched Curry.

Wow, awful trade by the Nets. They will not win with Harden. I never got why some fans here wanted him - the guy is just not a winner.

Now they have two me-first, non team players who will bring the team down. Sure, Kyrie won when he was attached to Lebron, but every other time he’s been a loser as well. Celtics and nets last year when he was injured were better without him.

I obviously could be wrong, but I have zero faith in the Nets. And when this blows up in their face, they’ll have no draft picks and will go through a down period once again. I guess that’s just the nature of the sport though.
