A lot of guys at the top of this class I like, so I don't mind a down season.

Only thing I care about, are Masai and Webster extensions. Who knows if MLSE will even formally announce them though. (Mark Shapiro's extension with the Jays was never announced)

The best time is next year, if they drop the draft age; that draft will (in the event that the NBA lowers the age requirement) be generational.
If there's a generational draft coming up, the Raptors should be aiming to NOT tank. Because Raptors tank + generational talent = being terrible only to get moved out of the top 10 so "more deserving" teams get the high picks.

This isn't 2005 anymore, the Raptors have come a long way from that.

You seriously think the NBA wouldn't have given the Knicks Zion if that's what they really cared about? Where did he end up? Oh wait big market New Orleans.

The Raptors just have to make sure they hit on whoever they tank for.

The quicker Masai realizes the smartest thing to do is trade Lowry and tank they have a better shot at one of the top 2 guys.

I’m not sure what you would actually get for Lowry, but it’s pretty clear this team has regressed significantly. Nurse has always overplayed guys to the point he runs them ragged and it catches up with them, only problem this year is they can’t win and he still overplays guys. As much as I don’t like Davis, he should play at least some minutes. Boucher should get more than 15 minutes. Watanabe should never play over some of the other guys available.

Sad sad sad ... I have faith in Masai ... he will figure things out ... hard to lose our best player, our best shooter/defender and our 2 complimentary centres in a couple years ... everything changed ... we all thought Siakam would take over for Kawhi but maybe just maybe he is one of those guys who thrives as a 3rd option against weaker defenders ... it would not shock me to get Harden as primary scorer and siakam back to his old role ... what would siakam care as he got his $$$ already

They would be #3 on the list of three.
The articles I've seen say prospects, Beverly, Lou and 2nd rounder or two for Lowry + possibly Powell
I guess if they’re trading Lowry I’d like to see young talent or at least a first round pick. Hard to trade a guy like that for role players and a second round pick.

Still think they’re better than this but need to get someone to play centre. Mentioned in another thread that Harry Giles could be a potential buy low candidate. He’s out of the rotation in Portland behind Nurkic and Kanter so they might consider. There’s a restriction period on trading recently signed free agents but I think he could be a very good addition. He’d add much needed size and skill in the paint as well as a passer from the high post that they really miss with no Gasol. He’s mobile at 6’11 and only 22 years old so there’s defensive upside if nothing else. Would like to see how he could develop over the next few years next to OG and Pascal.

Read an article suggesting they were interested in the off season so hopefully that’s someone they revisit.

I'd prefer a 1st rounder as well which PHI or MIA (haven't checked if they have their own?).

I'm down for buy low candidates, this team is not challenging into the 2nd or 3rd round this year. There is no point in adding to it.

Don't see the upside in being a 5th to 7th seed and getting smoked in the first round, holding onto Lowry and not getting assets and having our 1st rounder in 2021 be mid pack.

Tank now and go for a top 5-8 pick, get assets for Lowry (maybe he comes back on a one year deal next year) and keep drafting and developing.
I dont hold my breath anymore when they say we can attract big name free agents. Giannis was the one because of Masai connection but some people saying Kawhi could come back, I don't believe it for a second.

If you can get a 1st or 2nd+ for Lowry, package Powell + that 1st or 2nd to move up in the draft and you have two 1sts within the top 20.
You've seen what this organization can do with later round picks, imagine what they can do with a top 10 and top 15-20 pick.

We have some good pieces in FVV, Siakim, OG and Flynn but we need that C you alluded to and a PF imo, an aggressive offensive minded guy who takes the load off Siakim near the rim.

Why is this team struggling so bad? We should still be a 4th or 5th seed team

Siakam needs to stop being trash and get back to hooping

I can't for the life of me figure out what has happened to Siakim. With Kawhi, he was either option#2 or 3, with Lowry or Fred being the other. And up until the playoff bubble, he looked like he was worth every penny of his new contract. Like, what happened???

I missed last night's game but apparently he played great. Just one game but it's something I guess.

I think a good portion is that the league has figured him out. Now it’s up to him to make adjustments and get better. He is still a little raw and predictable with his offence.

The next few weeks will be very interesting. I’m not ready to embrace the tank yet but you’re right in that the middle ground is the worst place to be. Would hate to trade Lowry but they would be smart to try and recoup some assets if they can’t resign him. Marc, Serge, Kawhi and Danny all leaving as free agents + the assets to acquire them have left the Raptors pretty depleted.

Tough part IMO is that even without Lowry, if they play like they did against Phoenix they’ll still be middle of the road. I think it would take some hard hitting injuries to finish at the bottom.

Re; Powell - I’d like to see if they can find a team heavy in the front court that might swap a younger rotation player. His play is too inconsistent to garner much in return IMO.

No interior presence in the paint is killing us. We are a perimeter team that is predictable on offense and relies too much on the three.
And the team is just average at shooting 3's. And the bench is just bad at everything except for Boucher.

Its the perfect time to have a down season. Tough circumstances with them being in Tampa make it understandable.

Tough way to close out the Lowry era, but it is what it is.
