I was a bit baffled about this too. They seemed to be just as happy of humiliating the Swedes as the actual win? I have a hard time seeing the finns or the Czechs act like that. They would be too happy over the winning the gold to care about nonsense.

Or the Canadians.

At least we’re not obese!
Not much obesity on theese teams from what I could see. Merely the regular hockey brats bullying eachother and duking and deeking at their private boarding school, , sorry, ice hockey arena

yeah, the country with 350 million people in its like 5th most popular sport.
How many of those 350 million people care about hockey? Probably more people than the entire population of Sweden.

I don't understand this logic. The 5th most popular sport in a country of 350m is going to have more participants than a country to 10m.

What's more, 10% of a million dollars or 90% of ten dollars? You can't just look at the percentage.

Why are we making a big deal about the US players showboating at the end. Hostile environment and the Swedish crowd was booing and screaming at them the whole game. God forbid they give it back a bit. It’s all in good fun (in both directions)

Well it made the last few minutes interesting.

This thread…

I could only imagine what it would be like for the 72 summit series or 1980 miracle on ice if the the internet existed. Politics and sports…actually just politics…hate them

Best team won. Very deserving Gold Medal. Overall, a great tournament and it was nice to see that the World Juniors can be held in Europe and be on par with the tournaments held in Canada.. when it comes to fans and overall atmosphere.

Will be interesting to look back at the American roster in 5-6 years and be stunned over how many high calibre NHL-stars that were on that team.

This Sweden team is going to put out a lot of stars as well.

Can we revoke Havelid's "Top 3 players for team Sweden" award?

is that allowed
He shouldn’t have been there to begin with. He wasn’t good against the swiss either(or Czechia for that matter). He’s just too small to be a goalie.

It makes the posters feel better about themselves to look down their noses at some 20 year olds being overly exuberant. Or in Sweden's case overly frustrated...

No harm, no foul on either side. The players have likely already forgotten the final moments and moved on. But these things live forever on message boards for whatever reason.

It's also possible that some of the players weren't actually taunting the fans at all. The players could have been looking at their family members in the crowd and it was misinterpreted as taunting. It's easy for people to make assumptions about what was happening considering the stereotype that Americans are rude, loud, and cocky (which is mostly untrue). Maybe the wrong conclusions are being drawn here due to bias.

That said, even if they were taunting the crowd, it made for good entertainment. I think we all need to lighten up and try to enjoy the game more.
