Yes, you are very right, this is like a disease we have in Sweden and never ever get rid off, it's a bit sad and increadibly frustrating watching. It's deeply planted in our pathetic "Law of Jante" mentality.

i am not aware of that Law, but, as a Canadian watching Sweden for 25 years i AM very aware of their 'team first even when it makes no sense' approach.

My daughter's ringette team suffers from a similar mentality.

I will say I was happy to see anger, emotion and some rough stuff from the Swedes this year. Step in the right direction, i hope.

Eh. Losing a final sucks but it’s a heck of a lot better than losing in a quarterfinal. There is a solid amount of talent on the US team so even though sweden should have won I wouldn’t call it a ”flop”.

No one SHOULD have won. US had the far better goaltenders. and better forwards. Swedish defense was better.

If the Swedes had won, they would've been identical to this year (albeit without the Norwegians). With the US winning, they swap pool. That sets up a USA-Canada in the round robin, I would assume NYE next year in Ottawa.

I believe it was Sweden slashing players after every whistle. Sweden was gifted a win against the Swiss so they were lucky to be in the final.
