“It shouldn’t be too hard,” (Quick) said, per PHT’s Jason Brough. “We do that all year long. We’re professionals. We play back-to-backs all year long.
There’s no reason we show up and not piss a drop.”
Needless to say, Quick wasn’t happy — though he made it clear he wasn’t happy with his own effort, either.
“My job is to stop the puck, and I didn’t do that very well,” he said. “Team effort. We weren’t good.”
Dustin definitely needs to have an amazing offseason because his knee problems are starting to become a concern. His contract is quickly becoming scary.
No one should be blaming Quick, but honestly, Brown has looked awful. It's not Brown's fault they lost but he hasn't stepped his game at all, unlike his counterparts (Kopi, Quick, Doughty, Carter). I'm so glad he went so he could suck on the international stage too. At this point, I just have no hope for Brown turning his season around.
It's statements like this that make me want to leave this place behind. Jesus *** christ.![]()
A horrendous effort. I'm glad Quick was fuming. He worked his ass off all tournament long and this is how they repayed him. Pathetic.
What? Did Brown play spectacular when I wasn't looking? Like I said, all our other guys went to the Olympics and stepped up and impressed on the international stage (Maybe Voynov is debatable). Brown just did more of the same and he would've been better served just staying home and figuring out why he's been bad this year. Instead, he went all the way to Russia, played just as bad, came in fourth, and now is coming home with no added rest. I do not hate Dustin Brown, but he is not playing well and the playoffs are right around the corner. We need our captain if we want a chance at the Stanley Cup.
No one said that, no need for hyperbole. Considering the season he's having, he actually performed better than a lot of his high-octane teammates who were no-shows. I don't know why anyone at all is focused on Brown's play in this tourney in a negative light as he's one of the few who showed up, did his job, and left. It's just a deflection tactic for those who don't want to complain about the MIA captain and the guys (Kessel, JVR, Parise, Pavelski???, etc.) who went missing in the important games. What a smokescreen.
And I still think all the worry about Brown's contract is a little premature. We know he's struggling with the knee. I can see it in his stride (and he always went down easy, but even more so this year). I said Kopitar would be back to normal after last year (when many wanted to ship him to Siberia because he didn't care anymore, was slowing down, not hurt, etc.) and that seems to be the case; I feel the same for Brown. Let's not execute the guy until he proves to be on the decline rather than just injured/battered.
Edit: I do agree with the rest of your statements about needing him for a cup run and the rest would have been nice. Didn't mean to skip over that. I also do not think he is going to turn it around this year. Brown, unfortunately, looked like toast going into the break and will likely look the same coming out of it.
I'm only focused on Brown's play cause he is from our team. I'm in no way blaming Brown for Team USA's loss. I'm just annoyed that he went to the Olympics in Russia to play just 'ok' then come home for the stretch run. There was nothing beneficial for Brown from this trip. I was hoping he'd step up his play when it came to more consequential games like the rest of our guys did. But he didn't. Therefore, I think it was a waste.

Everyone needs to relax, jml was simply stating that instead of staying in LA and healing/recharging, he went to Russia and continued his poor play that will inevitably allow him to continue to underperform this season. Not everything has to be eloquently put. He's played like ass and going to the Olympics will only hinder him more. I love the guy, but facts are facts.
Wish he would have rested, recharged, and healed up in LA.
Nationalism can do funny things to people. Thank goodness the Olympics is mostly over and we can get back to dissecting our roster in one piece instead of 5![]()
I agree. I've been considering it for a while as well. I seem to be out of touch with a lot of posters here.

Why is pointing out how atrocious Dustin Brown has been so taboo for some of you? Stop marrying yourselves to players.
True, but what's your point in the context of this thread/Olympic tournament?

The guy is literally having the worst season of his career and stinking it up at every level he plays. He deserves all the criticism aimed his way.
Thank you, but I don't think some people are going to get what I'm trying to say. I did think that maybe the Olympics could boost his confidence, but that didn't happen, so now I just wish he'd had stayed home.
He wasn't just pointing out that Brown played bad. He said he was enjoying that he was playing bad.
Sorry if I misinterpreted. I am, again, full on board with you here. I thought it could be a boost. And hey, he DID triple his away points with his performance in Sochi![]()
