No one will call him out because of the shootout thing, but once again, just like on this continent, when the games get big TJ Oshie plays small. We as Kings fans have seen this first hand in the playoffs.

I predicted this would happen =/ The US has a weak defense and didn't stack up too well on paper. If they lost, then the blame would be placed at the feet of Brown and Quick. Hopefully they are in decent spirits when they return to LA. We've got a playoff race to win.

At first I thought this was a great thing for them to play in Sochi. Now, not so much. Pretty sure demoralized is the word for it.

They would have been better off staying home.

That last sentence brings up a good point. I really hope the players get over this quickly. It definitely would be something else if all the players on this team came back to their clubs and disappeared for the rest of the season.

@adater: Time for USA brain trust to be gently retired. Adios Burke and Poile, give me Dean Lombardi in charge

That'll be interesting...

No one should be blaming Quick, but honestly, Brown has looked awful. It's not Brown's fault they lost but he hasn't stepped his game at all, unlike his counterparts (Kopi, Quick, Doughty, Carter). I'm so glad he went so he could suck on the international stage too. At this point, I just have no hope for Brown turning his season around.

Lombardi would be good, but I don't know how much better he'd be. He would approach the game similarly and would be looking at going the Lake Placid approach as well (not looking for the best players, but the right ones). We all know Dean loves the physical, grinding, garbage goal, tough-style hockey. I am not sure that would work out that much better.

I have to admit, he is becoming a concern for the future. A year from now, Brown has the potential of becoming a detriment to this team on the ice and financially. He gets a pass for the season, but if this continues next season, we may have to pay someone to take him.

Is Quick being blamed for this? I don't want to look at the main boards.
I would think USA would have to score at least 1 goal for them to blame Quick. His team did not help him out at all. Maybe one little oops moment on the second goal, but he has been outstanding for this team and they just looked depleted today.

Didn't think they could have a game more disappointing than yesterdays. I was wrong.

Something I noticed was that everyone was kind of doing their own thing. It's a team game...:\

Of course. Why would anybody else on the team get the blame. I mean it's not like the defense sucks or they missed two penalty shots or anything...

Are they seriously doing this after yesterday? I mean I'm starting to wish that the Miller Fanboys got their wish and they could watch him get demolished and left out to dry. It certainly wasn't worth all this hassle. The US team cared about one thing and after they were totally embarrassed by being unable to muster one goal, they should've just forfeited and gone home for all the ***** they gave about bronze.

The second goal was his fault to a point...but he was hung out to dry by that porous defense...

I thought the second goal was on Suter for leaving the pass man wide open. Not seeing how that's Quick's fault. Regardless, the team didn't support him with any sort of offense. Too bad. What a bad way to go out. As Parise said "embarrassing".

Was that before or after he looked in a mirror???

Seems like it looked as bad as it sounded, eh?

Guess I should be happy I got called on to work today.

Don't care what happened in this game, people calling for "x should have gone over Brown" or "Miller over Quick" are misplacing blame. When all your 'top talent' is a bunch of no-shows, it's not the 3rd and 4th liners to blame.

The team didn't show up today, plan and simple. 24 hours ago this team had a chance for gold, to go out the way they did was an embarrassment.

Brown had no business being on that team, and his play and contract are looking like a major concern.

Finland was proud enough to medal with the bronze. The U.S., didn't care too much. The attitude was like "OK, lets try for it!" instead of "Lets go for it!". Once, it was not looking like it wasn't gonna happen they folded the tent and presented with the attitude of "It was only the bronze." Very disappointing. Hopefully this doesn't affect Quick.

Quick will be fine. I don't know why people are worried about him. He's used to the team not showing up in front of him.

It's for a different thread, but ya, Dean has some serious serious problems with some of these contracts.

When you play that style of hockey for a decade, when you give and take that kind of a pounding the body breaks down. The Kings have two guys that, IMO that is happening to, and both are signed forever.

Dustin Brown is just slower than he was a few years ago, and it's hurting his entire game.

I'm worried.
