That was a game played according to Kruger's rules.

The other coaches play chess. He plays Go.

His teams will most of the times have less shots than the adversary ... yet most of the shot of the opponent will not be dangerous.

Chess is about making as many checks as possible. (shots on goals)
Go is about occupying the territory actively or passively. (strategic place occupied)

mmm, no....

I don't think Europe is getting as much credit as they deserve. They have a very good mix of players.

Well done, team USA showed great heart, only being defeated by 3-0 against rags-tags from countries where people dont even know this tournament :D

Gotta feel good.

this game is exciting from minute one, looks twice as fast than USA vs EUR

While I don't necessarily revel at the US failing I can totally understand and relate to the anger from many Americans at their management team. We don't pick the best team we can either. We play Boumeester and Pietrangelo etc. I feel your pain bros the Euros might take us down too.

lol.

It's not even remotely the same. And that an absurd comment to say, oh they choose J Bo and Pietrangelo, boo hoo they didn't pick the best team.

Halak, Draisaitl, Gaborik, Kopitor, Chara, and Hossa are all world class athletes. Team Europe certainly were the underdogs, but they're far from a rag tag group of misfits. There's a lot of experience and skill there.

Well, they didn't pick the best team, certainly not for this type tourney. The defense choices are questionable at best and guys like Dubinsky should not be sniffing this roster.

Team USA was missing sbisa

Thank god Krueger saw how much of a tirefire Sbisa is pretty fast and made him #7 D. Still don't understand why he's even on the roster. He was awful in Vancounver. There had to be another NHL defenseman they could've nominated .

This is what happens when Team USA has Burke, Torts and a bunch of other imbeciles making roster decisions

Leaving two of their best Dmen in Faulk and Byfuglien for JJ, etc lirl

Is anyone actually surprised this team isn't good? Questionable decision making from top to bottom throughout USA hockey.

Same with the WJC's this year. Specifically took top 6 players and bottom 6 players instead of the best players and have them fill different roles.

Recipe for failure in these types of tournament. Everyone knows it. Except USA.

This game fitted europe perfect, they could play super defense with out any pressure against a team that was forced to play offense hockey. But USA was build to play defensive hockey themself, and didnt have the skills to breakthrough europes defense, and was to be honest never really close. TJ and Kessel would have been useful. Kessel was USA best forward in the olympics and was great in the playoff, very weird that he was left out.

It will be very different against canada and czech. Against czech, europe will have more pressure to play offense and win, and canada will probably break them down. So still think USA have a good chance to move forward from this group.

This Team USA philosophy is weird because they do the exact opposite in Basketball. They stack the team with the best available players, like Canada does in hockey.

Lol at the chess comparison, hasnt been about anything but central control for a very long time.

Anyways, US leaves out star offensive d man, then coach wonders why they couldnt generate chances
