It's hilarious to see that a guy like Giroux is a healthy scratch for Canada, but somehow the US team has guys like Dubinsky and Abdelkader in their lineup. Do they think this is the World Championships?

Halak, Draisaitl, Gaborik, Kopitor, Chara, and Hossa are all world class athletes. Team Europe certainly were the underdogs, but they're far from a rag tag group of misfits. There's a lot of experience and skill there.

Hossa and Chara walking with a cane soon, still you´re right, they are superior to the jim-bob´s by a mile.

Lol at the chess comparison, hasnt been about anything but central control for a very long time.

Anyways, US leaves out star offensive d man, then coach wonders why they couldnt generate chances

Leaves out a 30 goal scoring winger in Palmieri for Abdelkader and Dubinsky as well.

Byfuglien and Palmieri need to be in the next game, same with Faulk, I'd sit Carlson for sure, he looked like **** and was one of the dmen on the ice that had his head up his ass when Kane ****ed up and Europe when on a 2 on 0 and scored. The other defenseman to sit? No clue. Then again, I really have no clue what dmen you couldn't sit from this game because it was just an overall brutal game from everyone involved outside of goaltending.

If Torts thinks what he put out on the ice today is the best lineup, he really needs to never be back behind a bench. You scratched 3 guys that are better than a good portion of the players that were on the ice today.

What's important isnt that they lost; it's that nobody sat down during the national anthem.

Don't get the comedy there.

IMO Dubinsky (12:58) and Abdelkader (11:52) played like they cared at least.

Who are the US stars that showed up and had good games?

Parise 17:32
Oshie 18:04
Pavelski 18:29 these guys certainly didn't bring anyone out of their seat

I have no reason to defend Tortorella or pump the tires of the US team but dismissing theAmericans at this point seems premature. Lots of teams have bad losses early in tournaments and come back to win, eg, Canada at the 2010 Olympics.

Pretty much. Everyone is complaining about management bringing a couple of grinders to fill out the bottom six and penalty kill roles, but the true stars that were supposed to do the heavy lifting for the team were invisible.

The issue with the US team is that nobody has been able to take charge offensively, not even Patrick Kane. And the grinders really add nothing. This isn't an 82-game schedule where you need those types.

Imagine if Kessel, T.Johnson, Faulk, Shattenkirk were on this team. I guess they were too soft for Tortz?

Lombardi has to take more of the credit for the players than Torts no?

Sitting Buff and Palmeri may be Tortorella's decision.

I do not think they lost to team Europe due to personel on the team. This team should have won. They laid an egg

It's a four team group with only two teams advancing, so basically for each team it's a best of 3. They just lost to what should be the easiest team, and now to guarantee an advance have to beat both Canada (now looking dominant like the Olympics) and the Czechs.

It's possible but those aren't good odds.

Given that he was great in Sochi and is currently the 2nd best forward on the Caps, yeah, I think he's a star.

Ovechkin
Backstrom
Kuznetsov
