That's giving Torts too much credit. He's more likely playing Tic Tac Toe... and losing every time.

edit: as many chess as possible? What is this... I don't even.

Team Europe played the Berlin Defense (aka Christian Erhoff) and still played for the win. Those absolute madmen

I really really don't understand why NHL doesn't adopt the 3,2/1 point distribution that's logical. Is it just because of recordbooks? 2,2/1 just doesnt make any sense. It doesnt penalize at all for guarding a deuce, which was the original reason to go on short OT and penalties in the first place.

Yeah it's kind of dumb. Now the only one who gets rewarded is the team who loses in OT. For the team that wins, winning it in shootout vs winning it in regulation makes no difference.

Oh man, didn't expect this before but I didn't think USA would come out as flat as they did.

Kane wasn't good but I'm mostly amazed over how terrible the defense was and how often they were out of the plays, I mean 3 times we saw Kane having to go back as a defensman because the d-men constantly let players from EU behind them which you'd think as an NHL player you should know to never do.

I’m not sure how much it was talked about the USA goal that got waved off but if anyone wants to read the rules it’s this one
78.5 Disallowed Goals – Apparent goals shall be disallowed by the Referee and the appropriate announcement made by the Public Address Announcer for the following reasons:

(i) When the puck has been deflected, batted or thrown into the net by an attacking player other than with a stick.

Phil Kessel looking at Team USA's management team rn:

I'll tell ya, the brilliance of having Magnus (Krueger) behind the bench there. I mean yeah, he was going up against someone that couldn't even qualify for WCM if they had the right "piping" but still.

So Torts doesn't even know the rules in hockey? He thinks it was a good goal because it hit Stepan's helmet, lmao. Does he think its a good goal when a guy kicks a puck on net and it deflects off something other than a stick before it goes in too?

another example of why the oilers worst mistake in recent memory is firing kruger

guy is a good coach

Not at all surprised by this result. It's what happens when you pick the wrong GM, coach, and players.

Finland truly is the long lost brother of USA in hockey. Our social media is full of absolutely similar comments. Lets be losers together. ;)
Except Finland has placed top3 in every bob tourney since the previous world cup while USA has... *grin*

Worst thing NOW that will come from USA loss today is how much it hurt the Czech's chances of defeating Canada. Canada will have gone to school on that game.

If only Team USA had some more big time proven playoff performers. Leaving Kessel off this roster was pretty idiotic. As a Leaf fan I have to say he's a better fit for that roster than JVR. Heck, I'd rather have him on my team than half that roster...

Should have gone with Bylsma instead of me. Now Canada will win it all.

Lots of questions about the USA roster but I dont get the Kessel stuff. Is it not confirmed he was injured and not available?

Can we really blame Kane?

You can blame him for the second goal because yeah that was an admittedly terrible turnover.

But the lack of skill on Team USA's roster is getting infuriating. Kane has pretty much no offensive support from his teammates so he is trying to do it all himself.

And he made a bunch of nice passes on all those powerplays but nobody on team USA has the skill to convert them.

Roster selection for USA is highly, highly questionable.

I completely agree with this I was dumbfounded when they fired him. He seemed to get the most out of the players compared to anyone else who's has been put at the helm

If you're blaming anybody other than the players for this loss.....you're doing it wrong.
