The talk about USA getting 35 shots and Europe 17 is complete nonsense.

Team Europe played a counterattacking style. Even if you only have 17 shots, if 10 of them are odd man rushes with one of them being 2 on 0, it doesn't mean you are getting dominated.

How many quality chances did USA even have? Can you name even one? Team Europe had at least 10 quality chances.

This result could have been predicted 10 months ago. I think every single US player looked worse than what I expected from them. If that doesn't speak to a problem with coaching, then I don't know what does. It's funny how coaches like Torts who preach about defense and accountability seem to get jobs over and over despite their performances.

So over under for how many goals the US scores before being eliminated? 3.5?

Yeah and there is more. It is a team of left overs. Only these left overs happen to be some of the best in the world in what they do. The whole they have no identity - issue might just turn 180 degrees sharply and make them the Team in the tournament. A likeable story if there ever was one in hockey.

and a lot of people said team Europe would suck. They have a really solid team on paper. Not as good as team USA but it's good enough they could beat anyone in a 1 game match and it's on par with some other teams.

Torts had a huge grin on his face as the dying seconds ticked down. It's all in his master plan!!

Chemistry isn't there, the lines weren't clicking at all. Team played without any apparent direction or game plan. Few players stood out for anything positive, several stood out for negative reasons. McD was horrible and him being on the ice was hurting the team. 3rd period he got better, but he was easily the worst player for US today. Kane had nothing today. He either looked insignificant and lost on the ice, or he was making mistakes. Would really like to know what Torts is doing with this team because they really look like they are operating without any direction out there.

Parise and Niskanen looked good.

Europe played great. Structured simple game. Strong defense, fast transition.

His teams will most of the times have less shots than the adversary ... yet most of the shot of the opponent will not be dangerous.

Chess is about making as many chess as possible. (shots on goals)
Go is about occupying the territory actively or passively. (strategic place occupied)

That's a terrible analogy, chess and go are very similar games. But the actual point might be true.
