Torts benches Buff.

There will be fun and games in Winnipeg during his next visit....

Hmm, very surprising and disappointing performance by the Americans: no intensity, no heart, undisicplined play and amateurish mistakes... All honour to the Europeans who played a totally disciplined and effective game but this lazy tempo and disorganized play by the USA was like heaven made for them.

I have never been this apathetic about USA hockey. I was even cheering when Disco was coaching.

I'd guess that is bcs almost all US sports spectating is about winning. When you lose, there is defensive mechanism of apathy perhaps. Try thinking it from some small countries point of view, where one olympic medal or one win in hockey is a huge thing.

Isn't Krueger still working for a football team in Europe?

Yeah, Southhampton I think. The Euros played it like a soccer game too. Structured, opportunistic and methodical. It makes for a heck of a boring game but it was the right game to play against the USA because they don't have the speed or creativity to break down that kind of gameplan. Torts solution to everything is crashing the net, traffic in front and pouncing on rebounds. Kind of hard to do with 2 players in the crease at every turn.

Has anyone asked why he didn't pull the goalie with three minutes left, on a PP while down by three goals? Great message to send to your team.

CBC said it was probably because he was worried about goal differentials

From twitter:

"It's not a marathon, it's a sprint. We just get into a dangerous position"- John Tortorella

Tortorella " we just couldn't create scoring chances"

Tortorella thought the disallowed JVR goal should have counted. Didn't think he re-directed it

Team USA coach John Tortorella: "You have to give the opposing team credit here... It just didn't happen."

Tortorella says the part of the game that bothered him most was the way they struggled to produce chances.

We're chasing the tournament now, John Tortorella says.

Tortorella: "We're chasing the tournament. It's a spot we didn't want to be in. It's a very dangerous spot."

Tortorella: "We just got to stay together & not blow ourselves up here"

John Tortorella believes it was a good goal because it went off Stepan's helmet.

Not much to say, I'm pretty much speechless. Glad I did not bet on this game and team Europe totally deseved the win. Usa lacked fighting spirit.

Glad I bet on this game and sad that I bet only 100€. Still, getting 545€ for free is ok. Veikkaus had Europe at 6,45. After Europe crushed Sweden in exhibition, this was in no way that big of a surprise media makes it...

I bet USA is out if they don't beat Canada.

Then we all can laugh at Tortorella.

I really really don't understand why NHL doesn't adopt the 3,2/1 point distribution that's logical. Is it just because of recordbooks? 2,2/1 just doesnt make any sense. It doesnt penalize at all for guarding a deuce, which was the original reason to go on short OT and penalties in the first place.

in the current nhl system you can win two games and lose one, but be behind a team that won one and lost two. It's really screwed up. >_<
