Except that he's not 100% healthy. But hey, hate away.

Is he not 100% healthy? Really? He played last game on APR 7. He was injured but he played 12 games after injury. The question - you play in NHL when you are not 100% healthy?

Yes. With those salaries you have to play with some injuries sometimes. Its also good to note that he has represented USA seven times over the past six years.

I don't blame Eichel at all. As for the team, my guess is they are waiting to see what happens with the first round of the playoffs. Get a Gibson or Kinkaid in goal for one.

I'm sure numerous players are banged up, healing from injuries, or have a injury that is impacting their game... If they want to spend time in the off-season to get healthy, I'm fine with it.

Shoot, for the Columbus Blue Jackets- Seth Jones has been battling an injury the last couple weeks of the season.. They rested him a couple games before bringing him back... He's having "maintenance" days off of practices between games to end the season. Team has confirmed he's banged up. Zach Werenski has been battling an "upper body injury" since about January, it's presumed. He's played about every game, but it seems he's been bothered by it.

Anyways, Jack Eichel is one of those players that you ask to represent Team USA for about every major tournament there is due to his prestige, talent level, and history with Team USA... You don't let him skipping one of these World Championship tournaments when he could very likely just be healing from an injury impact future decisions.

Charlie Lindgren will play for the US

Roster now is
Larkin
Kane
DeBrincat
Mittelstadt
Gaudreau
Kreider

Murphy

Lindgren

I don’t either. He probably wants a good coean slate for camp in September. NHL regular season is grueling and take its toll physically.

Don't let Lindgren's AHL numbers scare you, he was on the worst team in the AHL with a shit defense and a shit coach.

Was hoping to see Kreider - Eichel - Kane but can't blame Eichel for sitting out if he's hurt. Kreider in particular should be very good in this tournament, he missed a good portion of this year so he has less milage on him and with his size and strength he should cause mismatches against teams with some less experienced players

If the Devils get knocked out soon, I wonder if Schneider goes.

He's had a rough 2018 so I could see him wanting to go and get his confidence back.

Devils can save our defense.

EDIT: If you can say so

Devils have a lot of Americans, but I don't see which ones would go.

Greene probably skips out. I doubt there's any interest from either side for Lovejoy . Moore and Santini's contracts expired this year. Butcher could be an option, but he may choose to rest after his first full pro season.

Same thing for the forwards. Boyle probably takes a break with his and his son's health issues. Palmieri could be an option. Wood, Coleman, and Noesen are all RFAs.

My 2 cents given his injury issues this season, if I am the Devils(and his agent) I suggest he take as much time in the off season as possible to nurse his injuries. Any possible medical work he needs done should be done like within 1 week of the season being over

He sat out like 6 weeks from Jan 23 to Mar 1. Then he only played one game (30 minutes and was pulled) from 3/8 until 4/7.

Unless there's something seriously nagging him all year, he should be 100% by now.

I am not an athlete but I can speak when i broke my ankle when I was like 20ish. Basically I was fine for walking around 8 weeks after the fact but I still felt nagging affects for months after it "healed"

I can't recall the last time they have waited this long...and I actually like it because it is telling me they aren't just going to name any player right away like in years past and fill spots with grinders and kids...hopefully Kane coming has shaken some things up and they will wait for some earlier 1st round eliminations to get a goalie, a few dmen and maybe another top forward..

I agree. We complained in the past when the US named college kids before the roster was half full. I like the wait and see who is available and willing approach. I can't recall if this is the 1st time the US has named a non-USA hockey GM? I know that we have always used acting NHL GMs as consultants but is naming Zito a change? I seem to recall Johannson would generally serve as the GM for these teams.
