this is actually pretty much the "easiest" prelim schedule I have seen for team USA in some time. Outside of Canada to start it off, only Finland will give this team any real challenge regardless of what NHLers we select at this point. Germany and Denmark will put on a good fight, but honestly I am optimistic that we will get a top seeding here which absolutely is huge for the quarterfinals..

I'm very optimistic that Germany will have a much better team as such + good fan support, and will beat the U.S. boys.
In front of their home crowd, and probably playing with NHL reinforcements, Denmark has a good chance to achieve the same.

Chicago Blackhawks forward Vinnie Hinostroza won’t play next month’s World Championship in Denmark after undergoing a sports hernia surgery Wednesday.

From Ottawa Sun

He could have the opportunity to go play for the United States at the world championship in Denmark next month. He fielded a call expressing interest, but USA Hockey officials said they wanted to go through a number of lists to determine exactly who would be available for making a firm commitment to White.
“We’ll play it by ear. I think they’re still interested in a lot of people,” White said.

Senators winger Ryan Dzingel received an invitation to go to Denmark with the U.S. squad, but said after Saturday’s game that he would likely inform general manager Bill Zito he wouldn’t be able to attend. Dzingel’s girlfriend is being tested for multiple sclerosis.
“With me, it’s family first,” he said.

I'm really curious how this roster is going to shape up.
I think we already know the answer here....wait, wait, and pray for 1st round exits..

I am actually getting worried that Kane "might have a hamstring pull this week" after he looks at what we have going....come on boys, the best player this generation for USA Hockey is going, STEP THE F UP!!

I hope not. Much of the roster is supposed to be named today from what I understand.

Nice! Got to love Gaudreau's spirit... basically no one of the other possible options (Keller, Schmaltz, Bjugstad) declined - very positive! Also, Yandle, Slavin and Pionk are awesome additions for the defense. :thumbu:

Sorry, I thought I made it clear just my hope, but I can see I left a line out...this still could be the team but it isnt official, just naming names.

Hell of an offense, but the rest...

I think some of these guys have already declined. But great to have Johnny. And if we have great offense i believe there is guys like Lindgren, Pionk, Wolanin, Jensen and some others who can be solid players in this tournament. I really hope they call Wolanin because he was really good with Sens.

Adam Fox please.

Stoked on Gaudreau. Come on down, Keller.

It's eerie how quiet everything is with this team. On one hand, I'd say it's a positive sign that some of the guys you'd typically expect to get immediate offers (DeKeyser, Bjugstad, etc.) haven't heard from USAH, but on the other hand, my passion for USAH makes me hope it's because they've got better guys lined up that haven't leaked. I've made that same mistake too many times with the World Championship team to also not expect the worst-case scenario either.

it is really great news .. Johnny will raise all the championship .. He is big patriot for USA ...

So, this team will look like this. F group is lethal but D is really questionable and i think G are good enough. Maybe we can get Ghost if Flyers fall in first round.

DeBrincat-Schamltz?-Kane
Gaudreau
-Keller?-Fischer?
Kreider-Larkin-Gaudette?
Pitlick/Glendening?-Mittelstadt-White?
Thompson?

Fox?-Murphy
Pionk?-Wolanin?
Schmaltz?-Jensen?
Oesterle?

Lindgren
Gillies?
Shepard/Morris?

I have read some comments that suggest USA Hockey is being more discerning this go around. For instance, I think a guy like Colin White is waiting by the phone.
