Speculation: 2024-2025 General Discussion III

  • Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Not sure why we would go the Dumba/Duclair route when we have way more available cap and better assets to spend?
 
Hi Folks, a little help, please.

Was going to have some buds over for Saturday's 12:30 game v WASH but I cannot find the game anywhere on TV. I've got center ice too, but they black out local games, so.....I'm at a loss.

Can anyone please advise? I'm guessing others may soon have the same question.

Day of the game, message me and I will send you a link so you can watch on your tv. Either have a laptop next to your TV that you can hook up with an HDMI or if you can Cast to your tv directly.

NHL.com has the game as being on FanDuel Sun.
 
I'm not paying premium assets for ROR at this stage if I'm JBB. Seeing as how Nashville likely won't part with him for lesser pieces, I doubt there's a deal there. The '26 1st can be used on a better (and younger) player, and there is no case where either Geekie or Howard should be even in the discussion for him. If Nashville wants sone 2nds, lower picks and prospects/lesser roster players, maybe, but that's not realistic either.

Nashville flipping ROR for a 1st+ after signing him in the offseason would be a coup, unless they are eating 50%. I think your second round pick+ scenario is just as likely depending on the market.

Yeah, I think in the situation Nashville is in, some major pieces will move. O'Reilly isn't viewed as a 1C or 2C anymore, nor is he paid like one, so I doubt it would cost an arm and a leg. It will cost, no doubt, because he's still a great 3C that knows how to win in the playoffs. And the contract is kind of perfect for our situation.

But if they decide to move him, it will be to the highest bidder, rather than for a set price. IMO he would turn us into a real threat. We can score vs. anyone, but OReilly would give us an extra shutdown weapon who can chip in the odd goal.

I used to be crazy high on him since we needed a beefy shutdown center who could win faceoffs, he's not as high on my list as he once was. Much of the things he's really good at we're not terrible at any more. Still, when it comes to the TDL you get who you can get and he'd certainly be a good pickup at the right price. Top of the list is still a young rh forward with decent size and cost control.
 
a pipe dream and a costly one at that would be getting Marchenko from CBJ. it would be the equivalent of the Hagel package at the time
