Has there been any indicator on a plan from ownership or management?

Have they confirmed we're selling?

Is their goal to make the playoffs next year?

Or are they still quietly evaluating everything and putting moved on hold?

I haven't really heard anything about the direction were going.

He did say he wanted vets though. That's all I got.

Staios did basically say he was open for business, and that he's had calls about Chychrun, which pretty much says to me it's a clear indication we are selling.

But I also get the sense if he can make a move with next year in mind he will.

Won’t know when you’re dead. And generations will enjoy the 100 million more than the 100 dollars. But alas. This is a hockey board

I would not take the banner down.
If we're being fair, nobody ever tried to make that point. It started with poking fun at our objectively bad GM he hired and they brought up EM's banner and I joked that JM should be replacing it. I didn't even know there really was a EM banner.

You've said the players are basically just cattle as a means to an end to you, or something to that effect. It's the players, coaches and management that deserve all of the celebration imo, not being wealthy enough to invest in something.

He did, but did become cheap, as time went on with Sens, that’s for sure.

Spent 2-3 million to bring the Eagles for STH (enjoyed that).
Donated to Roger’s House.
Millions in Medicine to Ukrainian orphans.
Donated $5 million to St. Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto.
Donated $1 million to launch the foundation "Patrons of Sport" with Canadian Athletes Now Fund
Donated $1 million to the Belmont Child Care Association for the construction of a child care center at Belmont park.
Donated $1.8 million to St. Michaels to upgrade the field with new state-of-the-art artificial grass, stadium lights, sound system, and an electronic scoreboard.
so he indulged season ticket holders but not kids???? a free concert to those that would have had no problem paying for a ticket to an Eagles concert anyway.

- Millions to Roger's house.. or thousands??????

the rest are not Ottawa..

Ukraine can laud him, Toronto certainly can. Belmont park residents (and the environs) can.

If your neighbor mows the lawn of a homes 3 doors down, but not yours.. Is he still a great neighbor?

I knew of his Toronto charity.. Did he help here? NO... He gave nickels and dimes, walked out with millions and cursed us..

Now we are to do what, build statues in his honour!!!

Charity begins at home.

You were proved wrong several times over, from what you said, get over it.

I got over Melnyk once team was sold, thanks Andlauer, you will eventually as well, obviously taking longer for yourself.

Players get their numbers retired and banners.

I actually don’t remember making that argument at all but I must have because it’s what I think haha.

Yeah players are just degens that play for my favourite hockey team. Don’t care about the coaches either. Or the GMs. I don’t really care about the owner either lol. I just care about the sens. They’re all a means to an end. That end is me sitting at home or at the game watching a victory

Good point, they do get their recognition.

Lol, mind of a goldfish like me. We talked about it briefly a couple weeks back when AgentZub was promoting EK acquisition again and I think an argument about winners/losers or something.

And lol. That sounds about what I remember you saying. It really is a different thing for all of us I guess. I've got friends that don't even have "teams", but they watch even more sports than I do, which to me is just mind boggling. Can't imagine watching without cheering for someone.

See I only have a team People that don’t have teams and follow players is crazy to me. How can you like another teenager/20s/30s male that isn’t your friend THAT much. He’s just some dude who doesn’t care about you and snorts a massive amount of cocaine after you’re done cheering him. Not that there’s anything wrong with cocaine

Hahaha beauty. There's definitely some truth there. These "heroes" are not what we make of them and I think we all should know that by now.

So much done outside of this community is why Melnyck never felt like a good fit here. That and the way he acted - our owner actually wore a Leafs jersey to a game once. Guys heart was never here, was always in Toronto and with the Leafs.

I guess I was wondering more specifically about the type of team he wants to build.

Is he getting big physical players? Is he getting defensive players? Is he getting speedy players?

Like, what type of team is he trying to build, and what's his timeline for us to compete with that style of team?

So,

A) what type of team identity are we building?

B) when does he expect the window to win a cup with this team is?

Fired the coach, G.M., goalie coach, put Alfie on the coaching staff, hired Dave Poulin.

The guys been working since September and stepped into a franchise with a kitchen fire. Staois has done a great job so far

Huh? Hasn't he done practically nothing?

Again you totally lose the context of the discussion…. Which was rebuilding the Senators.

Also it was Andlauer who fired the GM, and appointed Staios as the new GM, who yes made a coaching change…which was a no brainer . But as far as trading players, picks or prospects…. Zero, nada, zilch

And he did not fire the goaltender coach, just swapped him out for the Belleville goaltender coach.

If making an obvious coaching change constitutes “a great job” in your world, then your bar is set way too low.

The rookie GM will have the chance, within the next week to begin to make a mark on this franchise, so let’s see what happens…. Will he lose his GM Virginity or does he wait until the off-season…

I'm not sure what you're expecting mid season, with zero cap space thanks to Dorion.

I'm sure he could have made some bad trades where other teams smell blood and take advantage of him but you can't just snap your fingers and make other teams offer fair value when they don't have motivation to make changes.

I'm not saying he could or should have done this or that.

I'm saying, considering he hasn't done much of anything, it seems strange to hear that his performance has been "Great".

Shouldn't it be labeled "to be determined" at least? Not great or good.

Wait to call him great once he brings this team a cup.
