I much preferred Better Off Dead.
8 Men Out was also a high point for him
I just watched Hot tub time machine

Faust has a bit of the put-on announcer voice, which hopefully with experience and when he gets comfortable he tones down to a more naturalistic voice, but I have to say his processing speed and identifying players and events are the ice is remarkable.
I still love Jack and want him to finish up here. If it were a three-man booth with Faust doing PBP, Brick giving hockey analysis, and Jack there to provide color like a less drunk and less racist Howard Cosell on MNF, I'd be okay with that.
faust was really good saturday.I thought Faust's call has gotten better game by game, which is stating the obvious but I found him very bland his first couple games.
It's the nostalgia feeling with Jack, reminds me of the Cup winning team and all that. And he's not THAT bad. It's obvious he still loves what he does. So for that part I have respect for and will watch until he or nesn decides otherwise.faust was really good saturday.
anyone that wants to listen to jack slur his words for 3 hours after that is crazy.
im hoping nesn tells him to stay home after the break. Its time.
i get it. but todays jack sounds nothing lije 2011 jack. Hes been very different since last 2 or 3 years. It's the nostalgia feeling with Jack, reminds me of the Cup winning team and all that. And he's not THAT bad. It's obvious he still loves what he does. So for that part I have respect for and will watch until he or nesn decides otherwise.
Oh I know, I watch the random games on weekend mornings when it's the 'on this day' or whatever it's called on nesn+ and he sounds better.i get it. but todays jack sounds nothing lije 2011 jack. Hes been very different since last 2 or 3 years.
I think he'd improve and get into more of a rhythm if he had the job full time. He's got a good voice, but working as a fill in guy you don't have the same investment in the on-ice product as the full time guy does.I thought Faust's call has gotten better game by game, which is stating the obvious but I found him very bland his first couple games.
Right?!It's the nostalgia feeling with Jack, reminds me of the Cup winning team and all that. And he's not THAT bad. It's obvious he still loves what he does. So for that part I have respect for and will watch until he or nesn decides otherwise.
SameI was quite surprised to hear the new person the other night. I didn't know that Jack was taking a few games off. I liked the call, I thought him and Brick played off each other really well. More than I would have thought.
Right?!
I swear some of these folks sound like they'd trade in their dog when they get old and take a little longer to get off the couch
Yuh, this is just like that. Jack Edwards is keeping the streets safe from crime and drugs.Jack's not a pet, he's a well paid professional broadcaster who can't do the job anymore. Do you think a police department would keep a K9 in service when they can no longer catch bad guys or sniff out drugs?
His Marchand OT GWG was great.I think he'd improve and get into more of a rhythm if he had the job full time. He's got a good voice, but working as a fill in guy you don't have the same investment in the on-ice product as the full time guy does.
I gotta think they have some kind of agreement, even if just verbal, that he'll be the guy once Jack moves on, or else I figure they'd try and a few different people during Jack's breaks this year.
What type of analogy is that?Jack's not a pet, he's a well paid professional broadcaster who can't do the job anymore. Do you think a police department would keep a K9 in service when they can no longer catch bad guys or sniff out drugs?
We’re not in the “taking a little longer” stage though, we are closer to the “accidentally shitting on the couch and having trouble standing up on his own” stageRight?!
I swear some of these folks sound like they'd trade in their dog when they get old and take a little longer to get off the couch
I’ve been in Chicago for 15 years now, and saw/heard the last years of Harry Caray and Ron Santo. I also grew up in Milwaukee and still love Bob Uecker. I get the Jack Nostalgia….and he doesn’t have half the resume that those guys do.We’re not in the “taking a little longer” stage though, we are closer to the “accidentally shitting on the couch and having trouble standing up on his own” stage
I think giving him home games only would help, kinda like the Celtics do for Gorman (although Gorman is still much sharper)
Love me some Jack but this version is objectively bad at the job if you listen to any other broadcasts across the league. I’m fine with it, it doesn’t ruin my viewing experience, but let’s not pretend like people are being ridiculous when they want somebody who can actually concisely articulate their thoughts and what they’re seeing.
You love your dog but in some cases you get to a point where it’s almost selfish to keep them alive. I’ve been there too many times. To me it’s no different with Jack, except instead of euthanizing him we’re just talking about removing him from PBP for somebody more able to do the job. He doesn’t need to deteriorate in front of us every other night for 6 months a year. To me it’s sad. Put him on the ice, put him in the between periods booth. Just hire Faust full time for PBP next year. I’m sure Brick would appreciate it.
What type of analogy is that?
That would be perfect for Edwards now. He seems to struggle now with unplanned scenarios like interviews while the game is going on .Put him in a situation that matches where his skill set is at right now.A weekly between periods segment is my vote. Let him don cherry rant until he is 100. He is a Bruin as much as anyone who doesn’t put on the skates can be. It’s just time to hand over the pbp duties.
