Great thread, I'm only through page 10 so far, didn't realize there was even a wrestling forum so the fact that I found it made my day.

Was a huge wrestling fan, up until about the mid 2000s, then I found it became tedious and more about spouting catchphrases than the actual product.

Some of my possibly unpopular takes:

Vince Russo is awful and did more to ruin wrestling than any single person in the last 3 decades. I'm firmly with Jim Cornette on that score.

The Ultimate Warrior was awesome. I don't care if he was limited in the ring, he made the character work. Yeah he was a dick in the locker room but that would put in the 99.9 percent bracket of guys in that era.

I'd rather watch paint dry than anything involving Brock Lesnar. And that weird hair cut is beyond off putting.

The politically incorrect stuff made wrestling much more entertaining than the vanilla, everybody looks the same, talks the same, does the same moves post modern era.

Welcome aboard!

I definitely agree with your 1st and 3rd takes. The Ultimate Warrior was definitely seemed awesome to me as a kid but looking back now he sucks at wrestling and was a trash human so I'm kind of in the middle on that one. I agree that the politically incorrect stuff could be entertaining but disagree that everyone looks the same, talks the same and does the same moves today. To each their own though.

Big E fades in the distance.

Big E has nothing to do with either AEW or WWE"s women's divisions

There are plenty of accidental injuries, Owen broke Stone Cold's neck, Goldberg concussed Bret, Ryback and Punk, Etc., none of those take away from the fact that the AEW women's division is very sloppy and anyone who says otherwise is fooling themselves

I think it was extremely green in the first couple years. I don't think it is true at this point...though I still don't really enjoy most of it regardless.

Weill that move happens much rarer than a Last Ride finisher in Rhea's matches would.
If you can’t take a back bump like that, you shouldn’t be a professional wrestler. You can go with the Alexa Bliss’ of the world and bump like you’re terrified of everything.

That’s what separates the good women, and the bad.

Have you ever watched Shotzi wrestle?

It's not really any sloppier than WWEs women's division. Nia Jax has caused more injuries than the entire AEW roster combined.

I've noticed Jussi likes the posts that put AEW in a negative light, which is super weird because he doesn't watch. Just kind of odd.

Yeah on a few occasions, unfortunately. Not sure if I would even categorize it as wrestling. I don't care for women's wrestling very much no matter what the promotion, but WWE at least has a handful of people who are capable

It is, Athena nearly cripples someone at least once a month, Willow tried putting someone thru a table and completely missed the table and the opponent hit the ground, Julia Hart missed bashing her brains in on a fall from the apron only by the grace of god

Nia sucks too, but at least she has been gone for a good while now other than the one off for the rumble

Toni Storm
Shida
Riho
Hayter
Statlander
Ruby
Athena (funny how she was never an issue in WWE but all of a sudden because she’s in AEW she’s a liability, right?)
Deeb
Britt

Those are all pretty safe, efficient workers.

I wouldn't put Athena in there, didn't she break Britt's nose during her first match or therabout? And maybe we never heard of issues with her in WWE was because she was always hurt in WWE?

Statlander has been injured most of the last few years so she is safe at home on the couch

Where is Deeb? Haven't seen her in months

Riho and Shida are rarely around much anymore, though I saw Riho just returned

Baker, Hayter, Storm, and Soho, I haven't seen them maim anyone yet so I'll concede them, but there have still been so many close calls and broken noses and bleeding the hard way in the AEW women's division along with just many bad matches, a few "Safe" workers isn't going to convince me

Maybe the hiring of Sara Stock will help, maybe the house shows will help by allowing them more in ring time, maybe they just need to do less stuff with furniture and have safer more basic matches, I don't know,

So the same stuff that's being going on in WWE since the women's division began.

Yeah, imagine how much I would bitch if I didn't change the channel most of the time
So you barely even watch the women wrestle but talk like you're an expert on the division. Kind of seems like whining for the sake of whining. Or were you just trying to get a like out of Jussi because he obviously would despite knowing nothing about AEW.

Nope, it just seems like the majority of stuff that I do see is one of the ladies nearly being killed

Maybe its more of a bitch about there being too much hardcore wrestling or high spots for the ladies instead of just a regular wrestling match, which leads to the higher potential for accidents and injury

I do like Hayter, and have thought Shida did some good things, and Deeb was generally good when she was around, I would just prefer more wrestling matches and less ladders and tables and stuff like that, and that goes for the men as well as the women

Well, I definitely don't disagree with that. The gimmick matches happen way too often.

The recent comments in here are a great example of the ridiculous standard AEW (and non WWE promotions) gets held to while WWE gets a pass most of the time
