Austin is overrated. Right man. Right place. Right time. McMahon and WWF needed a bulletproof champion and had him drinking beer, blowing shit up and driving monster trucks and basically gave people the carnage and mayhem they so desperately wanted. It'll forever be a generational impact but it's because he was given liberties no one ever had before or since and it will never happen again because it'll never be purposely done like that again.

Oh yeah and screaming "wHaT?!?!!" into the mic 11,986 times a night like a 6 year old purposely pissing off his parents asking "why" to everything is downright the laziest and shittiest heel work I've ever seen. I know the man had to do something because he might've been cheered anyway but when I get to the point of fast forwarding through his crap like I do with HHH because I know exactly what he's gonna say like it's copy and paste, then it's both man and company reaching a creative nadir.

I think he was really good in 1996 and 1997 (and considerably better in the ring before the neck injury).

After that he did lose some of the abrasive edge that really made him stand out when he was first pushed and he became much more of a corporate product (as ironic as that may be).

Is this kinda a way of saying the best austin was bret hart? :dunno:
I don't think so, but Bret definitely gave Austin that push he needed.

96-97 Austin is a different animal to me as he was often not at all trying to be a cool babyface. He comes off way more unhinged and rage-filled. He was a unique character.

I think I agree with the last part because when anyone else tries to do it they look like a f***ing idiot.

I know people won't like to admit it for obvious reasons

but Benoit VS HHH VS HBK at WM 20 was a fantastic main event.

Lesnar VS reigns was a great feud, most of the matches were great people just shit on it because it was the cool thing to do

He would be like Mr McMahon with 0 charisma / personality.

doesn't need it, people just boo him naturally

Agreed, I still watch that match from time to time on YouTube.

Would have been cooler to have him put the crossface on HBK (as payback for forcing himself into the match) but Ross' call afterwards is something I still remember.

nobody on the shows should care about anything but the world title.

I saw Woods post about how it's been 14 weeks since his rivaliry with the brawling brutes started and he said once this is over he wants to focus on the IC title.

That's odd to me because the IC title is not the top title.

You never see UFC fighters say they want to be #2 in the division no, they all want the world title.

It's odd to me that the characters on the show don't have the goal of being the champion they are happy with being #2

If it were real nobody would care about the IC title or US title

MAYBE they would care about the tag titles

but the goal would be the world title

hearing guys say they want to be US champion or IC champion has always been odd to me

I think it's fine for a guy like Woods who has never been at the main event level. The intercontinental title functions fine as a stepping stone to the main event. But when, as is far too common, you have former world champions competing for the secondary titles, that's just nonsense.

Granted, I don't watch WWE religiously or anything these days, but I don't really get the Charlotte hate.

Maybe she's been overpushed and/or overhyped at times, but she's a good worker and decent enough on the microphone. She's a great heat magnet. I prefer watching her stuff to watching maybe about 50% of the other content on the main two shows TBH.
