While it would be nice to get Reilly, a little perspective...

He was not in the THN Future Watch top 75 in march. It's like adding a Hudon or Andrighetto, not a Tinordi or Scherbak.

Is that your sole source? The THN Future Watch?

Why would the team be interested in Reilly if they had so much confidence in Tinordi?

Also, if Tinordi gets traded, don't come in here saying he wasn't a really good prospect.

He's a Minnesota boy....so I guess we know where he signs.

all the talk on the NCAA boards before things really hit the media with him was that he wanted to sign with the Hawks, so that's where I think he signs although Minnesota makes a lot of sense since his dad is part owner, from there, being a gopher.

If we somehow signed him, imo he would easily be one of our top prospects. I take him over Tinordi by a mile.

UOTE=WeThreeKings;103858949]I'd argue that Tinordi is a worse prospect at this point than the other 3.[/QUOTE]
You won't get an argument from me. Tinordi should have proved his worth by now but he hasn't. At one time he was considered a leading prospect. Hab fans should be very disappointed.

I never thought Pateryn would play a single game for the Habs but IMO he's a plausible 3rd pairing RD.

So...where were we anyway on that list? Just there 'cause for every player you need to put Mtl to generate interest?

Pretty quiet these days on the trade front, but it should heat up on June 26th for the NHL Draft (can't wait!) and on July 1st UFA day (also can't wait!!).

If Chicago is indeed interested in Reilly, then we have pretty much no shot at getting him.

It was a longshot to begin with.

I thought he was a lock for Chicago?

Ended up signing with a team that lost in the 1st rd and who is weak on defense.

All the talk before the media got on board was that he was a lock for the Hawks but since his dad was part owner of the Wild, and he's from Minnesota, played there for 3 years in the NCAA. So the thought was that if for whatever reason he didn't sign with the Hawks, the Wild would get him.

He's signing with minny which I already stated a week or two ago. Anyone in the know knew he was going to sign with minny, I don't know why he did the dog and pony show just speaks to his character I guess.

They are weak on D? Really?

Suter, Brodin, Spurgeon and Scandella are solid.

6th in the league in goals against, 4th in league in shots allowed per game.

Viktor Tikhonov will narrow his free agency choices down to five teams by tomorrow, no word on who are the 5 teams.

He'd look good next to Eller, I wonder what type of money he's asking for? The guy has speed to burn and pretty good hockey sense.

I don't think the money would be too much, I know the rumor was he would sign with Pitt so I guess we'll see.

hmm, I'm guessing the Hawks are also one of the team pushing for him as per usual. Along with being the defending champs, he and newly signed Panarin were teammates for the past few seasons in the KHL, must help a little.

With the new hockey season starting up, this thread will be updated for any undrafted or FA's that might be of interest to the Habs in the off-season.

In watching the Champions League games, some Euro FA's have been impressing.

Henrik Tommernes- D. Drafted by the Nucks in the 7th round of 2011 but left the team after 2 years in the AHL. Not sure if he would ever come over or what the situation was if it was something ala Nygren and Hamilton or not but the team cut ties with him so he's now a FA. He's a teammate of Lehkonen's at Frolunda so I will get to see a lot of him this year. Currently he leads the tournament in points with 8 in 3 games. (they play later today) So might be someone to keep an eye on, just turned 25 last week.

Marcus Sorensen- F. Drafted by the Sens in the 4th round of 2010 but they opted not to sign him. He's a teammate of Vejdemo's and plays on the top line. Leads his team in scoring at the Champions league. Not the biggest guy but has shown some flashy plays.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=127792

Alexander Fallstrom- F. Drafted by the Wild in the 4th round of 2009 but was traded to boston, after 2 seasons in the AHL he packed it in and went back to Sweden. He's now a FA, also a teammate of Vejdemo's, so far he's gotten off to a good start with 3 goals and 4 pts in 4 games. Has good size but doesn't use it, saw him at Havard when he was a teammate of Leblanc's but he stayed and put up decent numbers (led his team in scoring his Senior year).

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=120929

Daniel Pribyl - F. Drafted by the Habs in the 6th round of 2011 but was not signed. He impressed me last year but then got injured, he's 22 and has the size but lacks foot speed/skating. A big year might get him noticed, will be keeping an eye on him since I'll be watching his teammate Reway.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=134463

Chris Baltisberger- F. Undrafted, plays in the Swiss league, he's 23 but turns 24 at the end of next month. Has gotten off to a good start in 4 goals and 6 points in 4 games as he's one of the top goal scorers in the tournament so far.

Good on McNiven. Shut the door in the 3rd and OT and his team won! :handclap: Trade that saw their ex-goalie Flinn go for OS to get Cianfrone already paid off....for both teams. While Flinn got a shutout in his first game, Cianfrone is surley the one responsible for McNiven to get his first win with the winning goal in OT and he added 2 assists.

Do you know anything about Cianfrone ? He wasn't drafted or signed by anybody as far as I know. I caught absolutely zero Mississauga game last year and I was wondering if the kid is worth keeping an eye on at all.

A lot less prospects to follow this year outside of St. John's.

A few of our former prospects doing decent this year in Nystrom and Pribyl. I wonder if management still keeps tabs on them at all. Especially Pribyl since he's on the same team as Reway.

It seemed like Pribyl would never put it together but i felt we gave up on Nystrom far too early but that's an opinion based on never watching either of them.

Nystrom never impressed me but I liked Pribyl just that his skating/foot speed were below average. He's looked good this year so far, certainly someone to keep an eye on as he's still young but has some decent hands to go with his big frame.

he was always big, looks like a moose on skates, but was just too slow. Still not sure he's quick enough for the NHL but as a teammate of Reway's and former Timmins pick I'm sure they are keeping an eye on him. He missed a lot of time last year after getting off to a good start but in the few games I've seen this year he's looked good.

Reway would need to become stronger.....and more efficient 3-way....but if he keeps doing well and somehow keeps a great attitude....we never know....he might have a shot at replacing Semin next year. I point out the "have a shot". I don't personnally see it...but what he has been doing so far has to be impressive.

But if he comes over next year...how about ask Daniel Pribyl our ex draft pick to join to see if he could make it too?

So Reway is first on that team in points, and Pribyl second? With Pribyl tied for team lead in goals scored? Interesting...shame he never learned to skate much better. It would be interesting to see him as an invite.
