UNB Reds Thread (Part5)

Even if they didn’t add one they have McGinley coming back which will make things tricky because Nolet has played really well. The only locks to stay in the lineup are likely Landry McCormick and McCallum .
I would add Kammerer's name to the locks in the lineup. He has come in and played as advertised as as a lock down D-man. Fourth on the team in plus minus, with no PP time. He is really good. I think if UNB is up one goal late in an important game, I want McCormick and Kammerer on the ice in the last minute. I have Nolet ahead of Kyte and McGinnley. He has doubled his point production from all of last year already, and provided solid, consistent D. Not sure what more they can ask of him!

I can see McGinnley and Nolet platooning - splitting weekend games. And a new D and Kyte platooning. Until someone gets injured, which is pretty much inevitable. That's why you need spare bodies. If he brings in a new forward I would guess Baber or Morgan gets platooned. Tough call to make - which shows how good Gardiner's recruiting was last year.

Pretty absurd level of depth (despite having such limited bodies) when Morgan’s name even comes up in this discussion . 45 points in 48 games at UNB.

Yeah I would say it would be Carson or Baber that would be the two on the bubble…but Carson does bring some snarl, which really isn’t too prevalent throughout the rest of the forward group, so that might be the deciding factor keeping him in.

Yeah I hate to say it but I think Baber is the odd guy out which is not a knock on him , UNB is just that good

I feel like Sproule will be out for a bit…looks like both times he went to the dressing room he was holding his shoulder. He had a similar looking issue earlier this season too.

Someone new sitting with scratches tonight wearing a suit
Based on rumors yesterday at the AUC, it may have been Nicolas Savoie. If true, big get! Top scoring d-man (48 points) with last years Memorial Cup champ Quebec Remparts, but is more known for his defense. He was a finalist for top defensive defenceman in the QMJHL last year.

FWIW…he is no longer showing on the roster for either Jacksonville (ECHL) or Rochester (AHL).

Indeed. I checked that as well. On the Rochester transactions, it's certainly clear, as they have a "suspended from team" designation showing and I believe that he had signed an AHL. contract.
When a guy is “suspended by team”, more often then not it seems they have actually left the team.

If UNB adds Savoie, they have crazy depth all the way through the lineup.
Just one extra forward though…hopefully Sproule isn’t out too long.
