Is unb looking for Goalie, heard they had goalie come for visit ?
Wouldn’t be surprised. Someone posted earlier in the spring that Outhouse was moving on and he seemed to be quite unlucky health wise over the last couple of seasons. 3rd stringer Tanner Somers is ok in a pinch but I doubt they’d want to rely on him for any length of time.

I think the big issue is when you expect to be contending for a national championship every year. I’d be fine if he played half the games during the regular season with the margin UNB usually out shoots teams but if you lost your #1 and had to play him against someone like U of A at nationals you might be in trouble . If you check some of the bottom teams in the OUA he could be their #1 , he was a very good tier 2 goalie

I agree that based on what we've seen that Tanner would be fine as a #2 in a regular AUS season rotation. He wouldn't steal games, and he'd lose a few, but he probably wouldn't affect UNB's placing in the standings.

But, and a big BUT, UNB has lost their veteran defence and it could get scrambly in their own zone this upcoming season and UNB goalies might be forced to be sharper.

Agreed on Tanner, believe he could be a top 2 on many teams in the AUS and further west of us and do a great job at it. We are lucky to have a #3 of his caliber who is dedicated and ready to step in at a moments notice.

I personally am excited to get Kammerer in the lineup this season. I think he will be a shutdown type D for us, same for McGinley big body and comes with that reputation. Also think Nolet is an excellent D who fell into a black Ace role with the addition of MacCallum but thought he was excellent at the National tourney for us with Landry out as well.

I think we will be sneaky good on the back end this season, can't wait to get to see some practices!

Went back and found the post. You’re right, it was more speculative than confirmation than I remembered.
There was some talk about Griffen not returning this season. Coming into last season the expectation was he would play more but injuries and the play of Sam Richard changed that but heard from many was an exceptional team mate through all of it. Griffen is in fact back.

Sam Richard was contemplating a pro hockey offer this summer and this may have been more why a goalie was brought in for a visit. Heard this was touch and go. But Sam is an excellent student in Engineering and is back in town to play. The offers will be there when he finishes his degree and he will have his education as well. GO REDS!!

Well hopefully Outhouse is back. I would like to see him have an injury free season.
Very happy to see Gilmour back for another season.

I was at the UNB bookstore this week and didn’t see any merchandise for the U Cup championship yet. Might not be available until the season is underway

I find it odd they put out a press release on Gilmour and Wilms, I had heard they would both be back before the season ended lol

Both graduates and are doing MBA's so maybe that left a bit of uncertainty? Either way key pieces to have back! :)

Not that I know of. You guys have to go the rink Wed eve and watch practice.
Ask around who the players are that you don't recognize.
That’s my plan Wednesday night .
I haven’t been keeping up on UNB hockey much this off-season but I emailed GMac this morning lol

Agreed on Tanner, b....
I echo what everyone else has said.

I found that the team plays differently in front of Tanner versus Sam or Griffen. They try too hard to reduce all shot attempts and are just not comfortable (lack of confidence). This led to collapsing in the zone and made things worse. When Sam returned last Fall things were totally different.

Patty Kyte confirmed this afternoon.

I like this A LOT...

Despite what some believe, there is never a guarantee that student-athletes will get into grad school. Just like other students, sometimes qualifying courses have to be taken first.
Absolutely! Luckily we have a bunch oh Academic All-Canadians who take the classroom as serious as the ice so those opportunities are there. Agreed that there is no preferential treatment, still has to be earned.

Really happy Kyte is coming , I’ve been a big fan of his since the performance he put on in the 2022 AUS championship game after taking a puck to the face and coming back, I thought he was X’s best player that night.

I was talking to someone down in Wolfville the following week and was saying Centorame gets all the accolades but I thought Kyte was more well rounded . Probably the most excited I’ve been for a transfer player .
