Roth left the team. Was not happy with his role, minutes, etc. Was one of those guys who did not add to the REDS chemistry. It was good decision for both sides from what I was told. He is switching schools at end of term going up to Windsor.

Campy you would know!! :)

From section 15 and 16 of the ops manual document, Major penalties as well as checking to the head and checking from behind do accumulate during the season, which would trigger a suspension if the player met one of the thresholds.

Typically, a player who is assessed a fighting major is not suspended for the fight when the opponent is assessed an instigator. This is likely why Hall was able to dress at UPEI on Saturday. However since all majors (as well as match and gross) are said to be reviewed, anything is possible depending on the assessment the incident.

The other avenue is the "video review" process, where a video clip can be sent into the AUS office after the fact by a team with a request to review for Supplemental Discipline. I find those are usually as a result of dangerous plays that are felt to be un-called or under-called during the game.

Looking at the AUS Discipline page, St-Laurent got 2 games for the instigator/fight.

Hall didn't get suspended, which some of you guys surmised.

I guess the theory is if you are fighting as a result of being instigated, there is no suspension.

I shouldn't have used the word "guess".

I'm sure I knew the instigator/defender rule, but probably misplaced it.

I find reading these rules very tedious.

Too much leagalize.
You're not wrong, but it's pretty clear why they have to written so tight.

Not really hockey related, but FreddyBeach news.

Bruce Hallihan is retiring from the Gleaner after 34 years covering NB sports.

I didn't know him well but we did communicate a bit over the 2013 FISU team fiasco.

Bruce Hallihan is an absolute encyclopedia of sports knowledge. The last of the great local sports writers. I will greatly miss seeing him at the games.

Emmitt Sproule with a goal and 4 shots in his first appearance with the Army vs Moncton. Could Casey find himself outside looking in?
Nolet was back in the lineup last night.
Very prescient of you....

Word on the street is that Casey has left the team.

And....a possible UNB sighting: Nick Blagden, SJ Sea Dogs may be joining the Red Army. Think he's currently playing NB Senior, but has "retired" from hockey 2 or 3 times this year, so who knows????

That’s disappointing if Casey has indeed left. He was bound to get into some games over the next few weeks with some guys going to FISU.

I know he didn’t put up the points many of us expected but I thought he worked hard and did alright with the ice time he was given…IMO he wasn’t much different than Baber or Carson in terms of production.

That would be two guys leaving mid-season…very uncharacteristic.

Not sure what Blagden would bring them other than being another warm body to fill out the roster. Also, I’m not sure where they are in regards to the roster cap now that Sproule has played + possibly Kamerrer.

Don't know. Was only told 'officially' this weekend that he left the team. If I was guessing, I could see him going home to PE

UPEI 5-4 over UNB
Missed most of the game last night, but was surprised to see UNB down 4-1, before mounting a 3'rd period comeback. UPEI has much improved!
I was at the DAL game and checking scores. Very surprised at the score. When I got home I saw that UNB made a 3rd period push. I've liked UPEI all year. That was a big win for them at the AUC.

UNB did put on a furious push in the 3rd, but Capriotti outplayed Richard in nets. UPEI is a very good team, and in games where they get better goaltending than their opponent...
