I had to be out of town last minute on Friday night last week, missed the X game… Did something happen to Roth ?

After the 1st period tonight, when they were up 22-2 in shots but only 1-0, I was having flashbacks to the game in Antigonish at almost this exact time last year…when the outshot X 17-0 in the 1st period and 51-23 in the game, only to lose 4-3. Fortunately they persevered and got two late ENG to secure a big win.

Never fully understand that either. Also wondering *if* there are eligible guys available at the break and wanting to go the school route...do Becker and McQuaid stay on roster list or go to make room? Looking forward to seeing Kammerer lace up...but would also love to see a Chris Clapperton come in and make an immediate impact. Love the way he played and thought he was a step faster right from his first game.

I wouldn’t hold my breath, Clappertons don’t just appear , I’ve been following this team for 20+ years and the only 3 players that I’ve seen on his level were Hennigar, Tremblay and Maillet . We’d love to see it but it’s probably not realistic to expect an addition at Xmas who can come in and instantly change the momentum of a game .

I believe they have a couple empty roster spots to work with. I doubt they pass up a guy because Becker is “on the roster”…as long as he doesn’t play (which I fully expect him not to), he doesn’t count towards the 24 skater cap. Honestly, I would be very surprised if they max out their roster this year.

He turned 21 in March. Is he ineligible because he played Pro and turned 21 before Dec 31? I'm alwyas unclear on that.
What if a player like Gaucher was currently taking courses at UNB distance learning?

Jacob is already studying here at UNB - maybe this effects his status if he decides to return here for hockey?

May be right on that, we’ll see soon I’m sure! It’s still early but thoughts on where this group stands compared to recent squads? Is this group similar to the 13-14, 14-15 teams? If the core can stay together they’ll be fun to watch. Hate to rehash old (and still fresh) wounds but would have loved to have seen what the 19-20 group could have done!!!

I think that’s a pretty fair comparison given how young those teams were…still very good but may struggle against more veteran/experienced teams.

By the way…welcome to the forum! Always nice to have another UNB/U Sports fan contributing.

My general rule of thumb…a player can play pro for the first half of the season after his overage junior season. So basically, they have a few months of pro to figure out what they want to do moving forward.

Where I get confused a bit is when guys want to go the school route after playing pro for more than a season.

Becker is still the equipment manager with the team - he became an emergency defenceman last year. I doubt he will suit up again unless another injury bug hits.

This is a young UNB team, lot's of skill, the backend is as mobile as ever.
IMO, compared to other UNB teams that have had success at Nationals, they lack that heavy forecheck.
They look solid in goal with Richard.

UNB 5-2 vs SMU
Nolet and Roth both out of the lineup again tonight, McQuaid (D) in.
IMO, Richard may be the best goaltender in the conference right now?
He has backstopped UNB to 9 straight wins, giving up less than 2 goals per game.
With the loss of Parenteau, Richard has been a find!
Colton Kammerer (D) should be available in the second half, this will give the Reds more size and depth.

Who do you take out of the lineup when Kammerer is ready (provided everyone’s healthy)? They’ve all been good…but think Nolet may be the odd man out, no?
