Dubas absolutely knew that Murray has an injury history. Yet, he went out and signed him anyway. Complete stupidity. I never liked this signing from day 1.

Shanny needs to ban Dubas from signing anyone else from the Soo.
I think you need to get your story straight before you go on a rant. Complete stupidity.

Dubas didn't sign Murray.

Why?

Signed the trade papers is Shirley what they are referring to.
I mean they could still have ranted and be angry with "dubas traded for Murray, got him retained, a 3rd and a 7th round pick, complete stupidity ". Just doesn't cut thru like the way they worded it.

And don't call me Shirley!

people can word it any way they like and it'll still turn out to be a brutal move by Dubas

but hey we got that 3rd and 7th rd pick , woo hoo !!!

I'm not talking about the move being brutal or not. If you're gonna talk shit about a move, atleast be factually correct lol
Quite simple.

Hard to call Ottawa his old team, never really seemed to play for us, injured all the time.
Was he injured or is he mentally weak.
Great goaltenders play through minor injuries.
He feels a tweak and pulls himself from the game.
Then again if he has a bad groin, then he should have surgery or retire .
Scott had to retire because of this issue

his point was that Dubie acquired him not how , your spitting hairs and then trying to spin it like it wasn't such a bad move because we got picks and retention

THey mentioned Dubas signed Murray 2-3 times. I'm calling them out for being factually incorrect.
Why do you care so much? Or is that your alt account and you forgot to switch over...

There’s no doubt in my mind that Samsonov was signed to be the #1 goalie and after Murray’s attempt at playing in game 1 and Samsonov in game 2 it was starting look more like that was the case.

Like I’ve said before the season started, because of the cap situation they’ll be putting guys on LTIR all season, especially players with a the 2-5 million cap hit. Muzzin will a get a stint , as will Kerfoot, at some point. They can’t head out on road trips and have just 20 players at their disposal, so it’s a good way to manage the cap and keep guys rested.
Muzzin doesn’t need to play regular season games so I’d LTIR him until Feb., if they can.

He was playing behind the 2nd highest scoring team last season. The team was winning despite his bad performances.

Not much different on offence from last season to this....

Winning is winning

They definitely envisioned a 1A and 1B scenario when they went after Murray and Samsonov. Dubas wouldn't have bothered going after Murray if he signed Samsonov to be his true #1.

He would have gone with a much cheaper option if that was his thinking as you suggest.

I think they would have tossed that idea around as a possibility. I wasn't shocked at all that the Caps moved on so I don't think Dubas would have been either.

I do agree though that the Leafs were feeling heat to make a move as goalie pieces were rumoured going to other places.

Don't want to rehash the initial Murray trade too much, other than to say he was as close to a radioactive asset as you could get and whatever risks associated with him being doubled in both health and quality of play.

But the good news is the situation seems escapable from a cap perspective. So if he's going to be out a month and we can stickhandle around cap issues and give Samsonov a runway. That's not the end of the world.

As an LTIR acquisition, it's not a terrible trade. Doesn't seem like great value, but hey it's not our money being spent.

But that still leaves us with the question of what the hell Dubas was thinking for solutions in net. Even Samsonov, who to his credit has been playing well so far, was something of an accident. I don't think he was expected to be a free agent.

It's obviously waaaay to early for any concrete conclusions but the suspicion that the Leafs got caught without a chair when the goalie music stopped this offseason is only gaining credibility at this point.

I'm hoping Samsonov can run with the starter job. Would love to see it. Heck I would love to see Murray regain form (from.... 5 years ago? yikes) but that gamble on a team that just finished with a franchise record in points with the reigning MVP and Rocket winner is just....bold.

I don't like being doomy and gloomy, but the decisions (or lack thereof) this offseason are so confusing to me.

This is kind of why I think he's probably not that injured, LTIR right now helps them and they have a guy that played 44 games last year in net and a capable backup in Kalgren. This reeks of temporality solving cap issues cause they already are doing better than they did last year to start.

I think that's a neat and tidy piece of business in the end, but I don't see Murray derailing his comeback attempt or the Leafs messing about with LTIR since the risks are huge.

I would think with his position, it might take longer than some other positions for abductor injuries.

Is 21 days realistic?

Agree/Disagree?

Adductor injuries - Conditions - Fortius Clinic

Usually, you will be able to return to sports after three to six weeks. If you have torn the adductor muscle between the tendon and bone, which is less common, recovery can take much longer ─ between 10 and 14 weeks.

How long does it take to heal a strained adductor muscle?
Most strains start to improve within 10-14 days, and continue to improve over many months. A severe strain may require crutches for several weeks and take a longer recovery period. Some patients will continue to struggle with mild chronic symptoms of pain for more than 6 months.

you’re the one who seems to feel the need to try to spin it as some great move by getting upset that the poster said we signed him instead of getting some middling picks to take him

and if I had multiple accounts my mod friends would be all over me , lol

Everyone keeps bringing up injury history, someone please correct me, but isn't this injury unrelated to past ones?

So wouldn't anyone complaining about that just be clueless?
