Holtby is free.
Unfortunately we have no contract slots available for him
Holtby is free.
I get what you mean but this is a team that’s supposed to be Cup contenders, how the hell is this ridiculous cap/LTIR gymnastics with unreliable goaltending supposed to get us through the playoffs? This is on Dubas for not finding/drafting good goaltending. It doesn’t help that he’s the reason we have no cap space.
Wdym, he’s been GM for years and has yet to draft a goalie that’s played consistently in the NHL. Lou also failed to draft one. His signings have prevented us from resigning goalies like Campbell and Andersen. How is the current GM responsible for not drafting a NHL goaltender before he was the GM?

Yep you have to wonder about his mental toughness. Did he think he felt a tweek or not.pulling the 'chute before he has to play his old team ?

How many goalies from the 2018 draft or later are even playing in the NHL yet?Wdym, he’s been GM for years and has yet to draft a goalie that’s played consistently in the NHL. Lou also failed to draft one.
It actually makes the trade better IMO. It was either he bounces back and is worth the trade, or the 4D Chess trade-a-third-for-4mil-in-cap-space move I suggested (mostly tongue in cheek) back when the trade happened. I don't give a shit about "optics".Making it really f***ing hard to justify this trade.
Just awful optics.
Yes, very wrong. It's bad luck and you're not a Leafs fan if you don't think this.Is it okay to use the word ”gamble“ now or do you still get the swarm of locusts challenging reality?

The whole hockey world agreed this summer, everything I read, except here it was this massive argument. Seemed self evident.Yes, very wrong. It's bad luck and you're not a Leafs fan if you don't think this.
Id rather it be that than a pulled GroinHope this isn't him avoiding the Senators lol
The same thing with the defence. How is the current GM responsible for not drafting a NHL goaltender before he was the GM?
Signing a free agent or trading for one, perhaps.

Unquestionably Dubas' biggest weakness as a GM. He doesn't know goalies to save his life.Dubas has picked his shares of goalies, but they just haven't panned out yet.

That's true but drafting isn't the only way to get a goalie, so if we didn't draft a top goaltending prospect it had to be addressed in another way. It isn't just bad luck that we have arguably the worst goaltending in the league in Dubas' 5th season as GM.Goalies take notorious amounts of time to be ready and are also notoriously awful at projecting how good they'll be. Goalies are voodoo. Can't forget Woll was drafted same year as Matthews.
Since the moment Matthews was drafted there's been a grand total of 3 goalies drafted by any team to see regular playing time. None of them are stars. Well Jake Oettinger is a star. XD
Then hire the best scout to find us some. You can go back to JFJ days before you can say we picked a good goalie or even NHL calibre
James Reimer is the last goalie we drafted that played regularly in NHL. Other was Gareth Sparks
JFJ drafted Tukka Rask, James Reimer and Justin Pogge. Ironically enough, the one that was supposed to be a sure thing never made it to NHL
Hunter/Lou did draft Ian Scott. Who looked very promising so did Woll. Apparently Jeremy Swayman was convinced he was going to be a Leafs, for some reason Hunter picked Scott when there was almost a verbal agreement that Leafs would pick Swayman
Dubas has picked his shares of goalies, but they just haven't panned out yet.
It's really not for lack of trying.
