Weren't his prior injuries mostly concussions though?

Why is it that every goalie that comes here suddenly has a glass groin? It is definitely suspicious when it only becomes a problem here, and I thought they fixed this problem with their medical staff in the offseason... Clearly not.

well he probably had a few groin pulls but yes like 60% of his time was either neck/head/concussion and one random incident with a broken hand (plus a few illness/covid protocol which is meh)

just saying his 2nd cup win was after a 11 game lower body injury in the playoffs.

also the people flipping out about the trade... it was literally a trade for future considerations and we got picks out of it. we ate cap. we get a goalie? yay. he gets injured? kallgren or woll are then backups. considering the few options the leafs had, it's fine.

Considering how fast they put this out he‘s hurt. That might free up some space for a while but the goalie ranks just got thinner. Big night for Samsonov.

To be honest, this trade was genius in 2 ways.

1.) If Murray is always on LTIR, the Leafs got 2 picks to take LTIR space that doesn't affect them.
2.) If Murray finds his game, the Leafs got a decent goaltender for cheaper.

The only negative is if Murray is horrible AND healthy, but that's not his track record so far. Also, with his injury history, won't be hard to Mike Smith the guy.

We got a third round pick. We could have always just saved the cap space and not gotten a mid rounder it's not like we got a first.

We ended up paying more this off season then we would have with Jack and kallgren.

If you're going to cheap out on goalie you just do it so you can actually use the cap space on something better then calling up victor mete

You should be reading into the LTIR - you think they'd voluntarily shutdown their big money goaltender until late November at the earliest, just for some cap wiggle room? He's hurt.

They could easily have run the university ATO tonight & used an emergency recall on Kallgren for Monday if it wasn't a major injury. Fact that they didn't, suggests it's not a minor one.
How did this post age for you?

I’m not sure why you quoted me in the first place. I was just replying to someone who was talking about the number of contracts we had limiting our ability to to sign somebody if we need to. And it won’t.

I still cannot believe that Dubas staked his career on a goalie made of glass. Incredibly disappointing.

I think he believed that nothing will happen to his job especially since after Shanahan sided with him and fired babcock not retaining Lou; even when dubas played goalie bingo with McBackup, Sparks, etc... and then traded for players like Barrie/Kerfoot, signed Ceci etc...

I mean you could see it in his face when his contract wasn't extended and reporters were asking him questions about it.

Two things can happen:
1) Leafs go on a run with Samsonov becoming prime Hasek
2) Its the same ol same ol and Dubas probably gets fired (i say probably b/c he should have been fired long ago IMO but he is still here)

If (1) doesn't pan out and (2) comes to pass then it would have been an ultimate failure for a franchise to not make any progress. Some here will claim that Sabres didn't either but to them I would say why would you want to compare to Sabres instead of doing what actual competent franchises do when they rebuild like Tampa/Pens/Hawks/Kings etc...

I am still amazed with the press conference they had after losing to Tampa as if they lost in Game 7 of SCF; "we are close..." Its just ...... :dunno:

I can’t tell if the people saying the Murray signing was 4-D chess are serious or not…lol.
Ah, yes. The classic 4-d chess move. Murray to LTIR. It will soon be long term LTIR. Gives us time to search for some better goalie while getting a look at Murray in between while working on him mentally and his glove hand in practice. This was always the plan! It all makes sense now. Dubas is actually a literal genius.

He had a groin injury in April of 2021. And missed games 3 other times for lower body injuries

Something we didn't do during the off season when there were actually goalies to sign because that's not genius enough of a move. Not having a contract slot to sign one is a next level move to fake out the league.

We're legends

I'd rather fire Dubas NOW and let Matty pick our next GM LOL

These moves IMO are done by teams that are looking for a rebuild/retool not trying to win. It baffles me seriously the takes that I see here sometimes.
