Just bring Phil Kessel, atleast the team would be a bit more entertaining with him around.

And we have just what is needed to attract him:

Where is the passion and effort from this team? No one seems to care other than a few players.
I'll give you that Marty's teams are prone to come out flat. As much as I hate him, Michel Therrien's teams were always fired up to start the season.

The players that are disrespectful to the crest on the chest should sit down. And that's why Xhekaj should never be scratched. He cares. Same for Gallagher.

This isn't a Gainey/Bergevin-tupe of retool.

Rebuilds take 5+ years.

I'll give you that I'm not sold on coaching, but the last thing I want during a rebuild is a solid bottom 6 that would make us win games by 1 goal and draft 15th.

We need more top-5 draft picks, ideally #1-2. Tank tank tank.

Funnily the teams to have drafted the most top 5OA in recent years are BUF, ANA, sure you want a page from that playbook ?

TBL, FLA, COL, WSH all only had to draft 2 top players to make it, why would the Habs need to draft at least 5 years top 5 to get anywhere ?

We already have that player. He's in the NCAA right now, giving Caufield-type vibes in his rookie season.
Looking at the many many eggs in the hen house, counting the millions I'll make when they all hatch: haha, yes!!

Looking at the eggs that actually hatch, leaving me far short of millions and with a bunch of rotten eggs: this sucks!

Guys bought the pre-season hype from the media. Media that is losing viewership and readership and clicks because less interest, thus losing money.

This is still a rebuilding team. I still believe they will get 82 points. I’ve seen much worse starts of a season.
We aren't going to get 82 points if we don't find a way to stop the cheating.
I watched a bad team in Pittsburgh make sure they had 3 forwards in the zone once they gained possession be available for a break out.
We've watched our forwards fly the zone for 3 seasons in a row now hoping for the Hail Mary.
Suzuki and Caufield floated around for two periods and only showed a bit of interest when Dach was added to the line.
The one thing I did like was Marty started a PP with the second wave even after a TV time out.
I'd break up Batman and Robin at this point they seem a tad too comfortable out there.

There's a difference in quality of eggs. Old proverbs are a crutch for those who can't make the difference.

This is not a Roy-type prospect, but a guy who's very likely to hit. I've been following NCAA for many years and he's a special prospect, to the same tune as Hutson and Caufield.

Looking at the beautiful two birds in a bush, whomst I am about to grab and sell for a profit: haha, yes!!

Looking at the one bird I manage to catch, leaving me with just one bird with the other flying away: this sucks, this sucks so bad!

I'm just having some fun.

I'm certain there will be busts and mistake made along the route to competitiveness. I don't think Hage is a guaranteed success: he's a late first round pick and it's his first year playing in NCAA. There have been many drafted NCAA talents who've fallen short of top6 NHL quality. Our very own Ryan Poehling for example. Sean Farrell looks like he's as far from the show as he's ever been. I'm not holding my breath on Hage and I think we need a more immediate option.

I think we are starting to get to the point where the best outcome for the year is that this cold streak and finding their identity/pride/ability to work through more expectations takes long enough that it doesn't matter how good we are at the end of the year, we still get a top 10 maybe top 8 pick out of it.

And then see that cohesion, chemistry and identity form at the end of the year that carries over into next year with the arrival of Demidov who will transform the offense of the team in the same way Hutson does when he's on the ice but at an even higher level

If you follow the NCAA, you'd know you're comparing apples to oranges by stating names like Farrell and Poehling in relation to Hage. Like I said, some can make the difference, some can't. Hage has a higher hockey IQ and drives the play. Poehling wasn't a play driver. Had a lot of secondary assists in St-Cloud's.

I don't follow any other hockey so will defer to your impression.

I simply don't think prospects are unbustable. Every prospect can fall short of their promise. A team shouldn't treat a prospect like a franchise pillar. We still need another 2C if Dach putters out.

I’ve missed the past few games. Saw a little last night and we looked brutal.

Not for nothing but the Laval Rocket just won its 7th straight. Joshua Roy with the hat trick. He now has 7 goals in 9 games.
I like that he went down, and didn't sook.
Good on him.............it seems the goalies have saved our bacon down in the AHL.
Nice win streak.

On a positive note, this loss is good for the thing..

Let's keep rolling.

Next year we will have Demidov and we can really start to put this together.
At this rate, Demidov should just re-up with SKA for his own good so he can play for an actual winning team and not a bunch of gutless losers who let him get head shot every game

But really, the narrative next year will be that we can’t expect Demidov to carry us his rookie year and that we will tank for one more year until he finds his stride. Then the narrative the following year will be that we just need to wait 1 more year for Gallagher and Anderson contracts to expire then we will be ready to compete.

So looking at minimum 3 more years in the bottom, with no guarantee for success after 3 years. AKA the Buffalo strategy

For who? Just don't listen to management who say things to appease the fefans or the impatient posters here who would want to jump over the rebuild steps most competitive teams had to go through.

Make your own mind about how far this team is to compete.

Personally I had them at playoff contention in 26-27, and cup contender at 28-29 in this thread:

I don’t think this will be a problem next season. But even if it was, we have a really good farm system going now where Demidov could go play if he wasn’t ready. It’s a shame we couldn’t get him there this season.
