Hey even you're Canadian don't ever insult Scotty Bowman like that.
There is clear reason why Scotty Bowman was in his generations best coaches in NHL.

Monten is just a nobody who cannnot coach even junior national team.
Even Jukka Jalonen would mop ice with a Monten.

For me it’s about our coach Pennanen. I just absolutely hate his coaching. As well as his ego. I don’t remember disliking a Finnish coach more.

In fact I’m lying - Marjamäki a few years ago was even worse for the men’s national team. With him we played crap and boring hockey and also lost a lot of games.

This tournament desperately needs Russia back.

The worlds work because theres some decent teams that come out and can compete and even beat some of the elite teams but these age specific tournaments are going to be pretty meh until Russia is back.

As an outsider, I always felt that Jukka Jalonen was a good coach. He always gets results, at least whenever I've watched him.

Seems that Juha Jatkola has watched Kevin Lankinen's highlights from 2019 IIHF worlds.
Hopefully Pennanen won't change nothing.

No reason line up changes and keep Jatkola in the pipes.
This team has grown so much during the tournament and it truly shows.
I didn't believe in gold medal but i thought Bronze would've been good result.

I don't know is it been god or bad for our medal chances that USA is out and Russia banned.
Who ever wins tomorrow that team has really earned gold medal.

Exciting and entertaining game coming for sure.
But now VOITOLLA YÖHÖN. KIITOS U20 LEIJONAT.

Sweden's hockey fed can be encapsulated by one word: nepotism.

Usually they bring up coaches from an age group under(e.g. U17->U18->U20->men). They literally let their coaches extend by themselves. And for how long too.

Firing? That's inhumane! Never!

It's a gong show.

Yeah. And still waiting chance to coach in NHL.
But maybe that happens someday.

Jukka Jalonen is Finland's Mike Babcock.
Yeah hard statement but almost similar achievements ( Stanley Cup is only what Jalonen hasn't won )

No they don't need Russia ever. There are 5-6 countries with enough players to make them worth watching. Unfortunately due to the time of year and amount of hockey played this year a lot of players didn't participate. The 2023 WJC should be much more interesting.

Well don't be surprised when international hockey struggles to draw ratings / sells tickets because the more people see of Sweden / Finland type games the less they will be likely to invest in the tournament.

That's rough. Our system has its own problem as well, but they're not nearly as bad as what you're describing. We have a rule that a coach can't coach the junior team twice in a row, regardless of results. Gotta give everyone a chance, no matter how good or bad. I wish they'd just find someone great and stick with him, like the Finns are doing with Jalonen at the senior level. Instead we have to suffer through clowns like Dave Cameron, Steve Spott and Dave Lowry.🤮

To who? sure people on HFboards will sit down and watch Czech / Austria but who else is spending 3 hours of their day watching that?

The 2023 will have just as little interest because theres only 4 teams that can realistically win the gold and two of them are as exciting as watching paint dry and one of them are being investigated for multiple rape accusations.
