In hindsight I wish we swung for the fences(high risk/ reward) with one of our 2nd rd picks and drafted Poirier. Draft him and develop him as a forward.

Poirier may wind up having to play forward to play at the next level. He is so bad defensively.

If McIlrath could skate like Kleven, he'd be a decent 6/7 guy. If Kleven reaches the level of physicality and intimidation that McIlrath brings, it will go a long way.

I must say he’s very methotish. Which I guess is the cliche comparison for players with no offense who are taken relatively high with good defence. But. It’s true. I really think he’s earned the coaches trust or is at least well on his way over doing so. Maybe we could see him on the second pair when Sandy (copyright) is at the wjc

That's great for him! Although he would have more opportunities with UND with Sanderson missing.

Hopefully he can crack their final lineup, will be tough to do without an injury/covid situation. As of now (without knowing if he's replacing anyone) he's the 8th LH D at the final mini camp.

Nothing set, they don't need to have rosters in for another 2 weeks. It's only the World Junior Camp, 30 players invited (including Kleven) playing for a spot on the 25 man roster.

I'd imagine they are replacing a player, Seeing Kleven got the invite makes me think Thrun or Vlasic probably, either they needed Kleven to round out numbers for the camp (not sure that makes sense) or they see Kleven having a role on the team.
