Here;s a better look at Kleven's goal to help eliminate Omaha showing him stealing the puck in the neutral zone.

While that was just one clip it did show a little more than most of the big defencemen Ottawa has had recently, he clearly is very mobile & not only has a hard slap shot but also has a pretty good wrister as we saw in this clip. Add to that a bit of a mean streak who likes to hit guys & be hard to play against & we could have another good one here from UND.

I certainly hope so!

Does he play L or R. Might take some Belleville time to transition but hell make the D corps better for sure.

Kleven will have to be really good to make Ottawa out of training camp next yr & given the numbers could be sent down simply because there is no room on the roster since he will be waiver exempt.

I expect that Chabot, Chychrun, Sanderson, Zub, Hamonic & Brannstrom will likely be on the team & JBD is no longer waiver exempt & if not traded could also make the team as the 7th D. It could also depend if Brannstrom is kept or moved during the summer.

I think a full year in Belleville will do this player a lot of good. He's gonna need a lot of seasoning given his size and profile.

Agreed. Will also help being in a league that is more forgiving of physical play so he can use his frame more effectively without the fear of getting a penalty.

Does he play a series this weekend
Yes, UND versus St Cloud Uni. winner moves on & loser goes home. If UND loses than we can expect that PD will be looking to sign Kleven to an ELC. Given the situation in Ottawa now it's quite likely he gets at least one game this season to burn his first yr of the contract.

Having seen his whole college career, I'm excited for Kleven's pro future. He really improved this year. He's not Jake Sanderson, but I think he may have a long career as a rangy defender with a big wingspan who can chip in a few points. A guy built for the postseason.

Kleven-Brannstrom could be a cool 3rd pair

Best of both worlds and complement each other well

Hopefully Kleven can be like a more offensive Volchenkov. Has a bomb of a shot
