Why bother post something like this. It's not genuine and avoids all context. He has 15 points in 16 games. You can say you're worried because he appears to be injury proned. But this is disingenuous and provides 0 substance.
I think you misunderstood, he was responding to someone suggesting he'd become a 15-20 pts player that hits at the NHL level, nothing to do with his current production in the OHL.

Boucher is listed as week-to-week by the 67's.
Boyd said they'd have him checked out by the Sens.. I guess they want to make sure they don't rush him back. I wonder what the play was he got hurt on.. maybe the brunt of it wasn't even in the Canada US game. ??

Nobody is a “right” or “wrong” fan. Sometimes good points are made on both sides.

However, for years people said:

- Sens reach too much on draft picks
- Sens over-value toughness and physicality
- Sens don’t value skill enough

And then they drafted Boucher, who represents all of the above. And so he is now fairly or unfairly the poster boy for that argument, despite the fact that the current iteration of the Sens is a team that has skill in spades and could actually use more toughness. It’s a huge burden to place on a teenager and I think it’s easy to want to root for him as a result. Do I think people want Boucher to fail? No. But I do think people want Sens management to fail, and I think Boucher is sort of an extension of that.

That’s just my view of what’s happening. It’d be nice if Boucher was just Boucher and not a poster boy for arguments around Ottawa’s drafting style on both sides but hey it is what it is.

I think the results of last 5 or 6 years is an indication of the performance of Sens Management.

I was replying to a post that posited 15-20 points per season in the NHL as not being bust-level stats. I argued that those would in fact be bust-level stats for a forward selected at 10th overall. I have a really difficult time understanding how that's "disingenuous and provides 0 substance." but you obviously misunderstood.

Also, it's 15 points in 17 games*

*nearly 20 year old forward playing on the best team in the OHL.

Nah. You could label that as a bust if a kid was a forward picked first overall.

But once you get out of the top 5 picks or so, playing in the NHL for a couple hundred games is not a bust (no matter what the points end up being). Is it a bit of a disappointment using a 10th overall pick on a player like that? Sure. But he still doesn't deserve the bust label if he achieves enough games (300, iirc?) to get an NHL pension.

If that's the case, than that Lalime Martin post about a dislocated shoulder was indeed bullshit, and the "happened at the beginning of the 2nd" point he added was just him trying to explain the benching

He was dinged up, for sure, when, where and what is tbd.
I think its pretty obvious at this point that, when it comes to Sens Twitter/Blog-o-sphere, you are better off assuming they are full of shit than taking it at face value.

Yeah, no clue how anyone could think he dislocated his shoulder at the start of the 2nd, and then came back into the game for a few shifts throughout the game. Doesn't take a medical degree to know that's not true, a dislocation has a 6 week timeframe, give or take

Just a strange fiction to write, or believe and then write

Yeah, dislocation was obviously silly. But, while it is possible that the benching had to do with him being banged up, it seems like the strong conviction with which L.M. implied that was the case might have been wishful thinking.

I also feel like if the injury was associated with the benching, the coach/someone might have pointed that out. Maybe it's just me, but I know if I was the coach and I benched one of my players who was injured after he struggled, I'd point out that he tried to play through an injury but wasn't able to move quickly enough to defend, and so I insulated him moving forward. Especially if I was coaching Jr. level players in a short, high-stakes, high-visibility tournament like the WJHC.

Yeah I just took a look at the actual stuff he posts, makes sense to me now

LM is a big fan.. boosts Bouch quite a bit over the past 2 years. Likely playing up the injury here. Anyway for Boucher its good news its nothing too serious as many suspected. 67's are really running along at a good clip. They acquired Morrison from Hamilton .. he had 3 assists in his debut. Bouch should get some playoff hockey this year .

Confirmed shoulder injury for Boucher, he's week-to-week.

So Lalime's Martian was essentially correct, just was perhaps off about the dislocation.

Bump on Boucher - did I not hear somewhere that he is off to the States this week to get a specialist's opinion on his shoulder, and that surgery might be an option? It's been over a month since the injury that was originally sold as being "just minor", so you start to wonder. I know he was skating at the CTC last week with a non-contact sweater. It would be a huge blow to this kid's development, and to the 67's, if he is done for the year...

I think the title to this thread should be changed. It currently is a red flag to those who think the Senators made the wrong pick.
