I generally hate trading these 1st rounders - even if they are late - but the TB article in the Athletic after the Jeannot trade has some interesting info on the actual value of a late pick against a known asset:

Also, if getting Bertuzzi gives Pasta more information on what this team looks like for seasons 2024-2026 then I think its absolutely worth the '24 1st round pick. Detroit maybe thinks it'll be closer to #20 than #30 by then.
Bertuzzi gives Pastrnak that much less money on his contract to re-sign.

Either that or Pastrnak already told them he's going to FA and Bruins try to re-sign Bertuzzi instead.

Hopefully his hand keeps getting better and he stays free from injury. His scoring is down because of all the games he missed and it's damn hard to shoot coming off a broken hand.

He’s a UFA. What are you talking about?
The other guy suggested re-signing Bertuzzi and used it as a reason for Pastrnak to stay. Or at least that's what I gathered since he said, it gives Pastrnak a glimpse of what this team looks like.

Additionally, neither Bertuzzi or Pastrnak are signed next year; but I have a hard time figuring out the money to get them signing both. Right now, who knows if Pastrnak is coming back, they've had since July to figure it after Sweeney said they were aggressively going to pursue an extension.
