If they’re looking for Pasta insurance they better have that 1st round pick protected no one will make up for that production.

If Bertuzzi and Orlov cost you less than Pasta combined, and Lysell comes in, you're finding a bunch of goals there. Not 50, but a bunch certainly.

Dreger said B's don't necessarily view him as a rental

...which brings with it its own implications, of course

Word is he may not be a rental...

until his JohnHancock is on an extension, Im not happy.
Damn, I wish Pasta was done so everyone knew what they have to work with

I'll worry about the future after this year is over

its pretty clear to me that DS made a promise to Bergy and Krejci that if they came back he would go all in - promise kept

if they had taken this attitude from 2013-18 they would likely have another Cup on the shelf

DS obviously knows a lot of things we don't about the direction of this team following this season. I won't be surprised if he has plans to re-sign most if not all of the new guys. I'm basing this off his track record as GM when it comes to big deadline deals. He doesn't seem to like to give up 1st rounders for mere rentals. He re-signs. Will certainly be interesting to see what happens with the roster after this season is over.

Not worried about the draft picks at all. We knew there would be a price to pay. Our GM fills those gaps through College FA better then anyone and after this season we still have an incredible core in their prime. Our price to pay looks like it will only be one season next year. If some of these vets want a rerun on cheap deals maybe its the year after next. Either way, I no longer see this Ottawa/Buffalo/Arizona abysmal stretch looming, not with the McaVoy, Pasta, the goalies and friends.

DS continues to bring in players that I used to refer to as anatomical parts. This is a good thing.

The toughness meter on this team is insane. Bs were already hated enough. The big bad Bs are back and will be off the charts on the hate meter. Love it!
Depends on the anatomical parts....

I'll cease this feline conversation before I'm banned.......

This is the most obvious interpretation of things TODAY. Things could change. But I'm in agreement with you. Pasta would be signed if that was going to be an easy extension to make. Sweeney needs to ice a competitive team going forward, and if that's minus Pasta, he's giving himself very good NHL talent to be flexible next year.

Don Sweeney is Fenian incognito!

My gut tells me that ship has sailed, so you have to go into the off-season uncertain as to where he’ll land.

You’d have to hope he gives Boston a last shot at matching whatever he gets on the open market, but as the saying goes about hoping in one hand…
