I will be very shocked if we find a way to sign Bertuzzi.
Not sure he's worth what the price tag will be either. He will get multiple offers and has no reason to prefer Boston. Wouldn't be surprised if he went back to Detroit.
love Bert and want him in a Bruin uni, but I think your dead on with this one. It would be nice though if he insisted on Yzerman taking some cap from Boston since Sweeney essentially just made him millions of dollars more by trading for him.

I can really see him going in Florida...

He's the type of player this team badly needs but boy a lot of work needs to done for that to happen and by work I mean changes. Just don't see it. Although im sure Sweeney will try his darnedest after all it did cost him yet another first round pick.

But it also all depends on what he will ask. Played 9, 68 and 50 games each of last 3 seasons.

According to this, they could have room if they chose to. After seeing him play for the B's, they should feel better about him being more the 30G player than the injured player that failed for them this year, and keep Larkin happy.

I hope the B's find a way to keep him.

Detroit is all Bertuzzi had known in his NHL career up until coming to Boston. Now that he has been in the playoffs and lived for a short time in a different city, perhaps he has broadened his horizons and won't be so attached to Detroit. Might want to spend his prime years with a more competitive team than Detroit. Would be awesome if he chose to play in Boston for those years.

However, common sense still tells me he will go back to Detroit since he has professed his love for living there, his bestie plays there, and Det has now seen what Bert can do with more elite players and in a playoff environment. Have to think Yzerman will try to work something out with Bert. Also have to wonder if that was the plan all along, regardless of how Bert did in Boston, just so Detroit could get that 1st round pick.

Comes down to do we prefer Bert or do we prefer Hall,Gryz,Ullmark because essentially those guys will need to go in order to keep Bert. Would you trade Hall Gryz Ullmark for Bert?

He just spent seven seasons there and didn't make the playoffs once.

Does he really want to go back to that after finally getting a taste of the post season, and doing so well...?
No idea. I just know he has close friends there. That team is on the cusp of competing again. He might want to be part of that.
The guy hasn't given any hints about anything so I suspect he's just going to leave it to his agent and go for the highest price and longest term.
I just don't get any sense that he wants to stay.

Hall ,Gryz , and Ullmark combined for almost 15 mil are you paying Bert 15 mil

I would move all 3, sign Bert and recoup some much needed draft capital. Then use the extra saved cap to extend Debrusk when he’s up next year.

He has had a history of injuries in Detroit. I think they wanted to hedge their bets. If he was asking for the sun and moon, trading him would cool him off.

Both sides should be able to move closer now. I would be shocked if he does not sign in Detroit.

Signing guys who got hurt a lot in their 20s to a big long contract that will be in their 30s except for one year…I dunno. He was good from the redline in in the playoffs. He wasn’t good along the boards in his own zone. That can probably be helped. His foot speed is only gonna get worse. There is an AAV and term where it would be worth it, but I suspect someone else is gonna give him more than that.

Put it this way, I would rather trade assets and sign PLD to an 8x8 deal than give Bert 6x6, and I think Bert wants more than that.

I acknowledge this guy had a good series but I would not sign this guy to a ton of money with term.

Left wing is not an area of concern for this team and there is better options out there for various positions.

He is not better than Marchand Hall or Debrusk.

I think he is probably better than Hall... but with Hall you only have to project 2 years and that feels a lot safer.

I agree with that, although he kind of plays like a little bit of all 3 of those guys.

He's 28. This is his big payday moment for his career and he's going to want maximum term. I'd say goodbye.
