If Bertuzzi didn't have that kick in called back, the goal scored on the penalty, the double doink post shot miss, I bet some people would be singing a different tune. I think he has been solid so far and has generated a lot of chances he just has 0 luck. As long as he doesn't pull a Daugavins in the playoffs I think he will be fine

It's this. In a small sample size variance is going to get a hold of you.

He passes the eye test. The production will come along. I'm very excited to see what a line of Hall, Coyle and Bertuzzi can do in the post season. That's a puck possession monster as your THIRD line.

Man U are hard on players. I really can’t agree with you. No disrespect or anything. But I find his Iq makes him a good player. He seems to be good in all three zones and creates a lot of scoring chances. He is a top 6 player playing on the third line. This teams stacked.

It's shtick. Laugh at it like the rest of us.

It's crazy to think about the lines we were projecting at the end of last season. Now we are heading into the playoffs with Bertuzzi who seems like he was built for playoff hockey, Coyle who at times last off-season was being slotted into the 1C role and has had a great year, and Hall who is a former MVP and provides speed and skill that most teams would like on their first line.

thoughts on bertuzzi so far?
Defense needs work. That line of Krejci, Pasta, Bertuzzi was a defensive liability yesterday.

Nice vision and not easily knocked down

Thought was a better goal(still early) scorer and skater. But not a detriment.

I hope there is another gear come playoff time. Something close to what Mojo brought to the table many years ago

Looks like a smart player who's been playing in a loose system for a while

I think Bertuzzi should be on line 2. I think he would drive the pace on that unit and he would have two RH shots to pass to and a true finisher on his neighbour wing.

I like his speed and his gusto, but too often he seems to set up a play to no one or to someone who has trouble with the heat he puts on his passes. It’s been frustrating.

I wish we would have had more time to experiment a bit with the lines and how he fits. Hall being out caused a plug-and-play approach and I don’t think it’s worked as well as we’d hoped. Not putting blame on Bertuzzi for that, to be clear. I just think it’s been an ill-fit thus far and that he’d excel in the right role.
You want him on the second line but you did not mention who you would take off.......

Seems like I would shelve that idea have you watched Zacka this year .
I’ve watched Zacha, yes? Like what kind of response is that lmao.

I didn’t even propose it. I just read MMB’s post and figured that was his proposal without outright having to spell it out for everyone.

MMB said:

You asked the question who he’s replacing. He literally tells you right here.

I'd be curious to see the following as a Game 1 lineup, if everyone is available:

Marchand Bergeron Bertuzzi
Zacha Krejci Pastrnak
Hall Coyle DeBrusk
Frederic/Foligno Nosek Hathaway

I have watched Zacha. He’s succeeded wherever he’s been placed. But one criticism is his pass-first deferral to his linemates when he has such a great shot. We want to see him use it more.

Slotting him in more of a trigger-man role on the third line is an attempt to help that along. It’s not a demotion, but an attempt to find the right mix with an excess of talent.

I understand and agree with most of what you are saying but , why would you want to breakup a line that has been successful . I watched him play center yesterday and feel confident that he could be their second line center next year and that would solve one of the center replacements and hope we can get Bergey for one more year . I agree he has a terrific shot and I think as a player we have not seen the best of him yet. I understand that some fans want to get Bertuzzi going but I just think you break up that second line to do it , and some posted moving DeBrusk down with Coyle and they have chemistry in the past but he has 25 goals this and missed a month and half . My thought is when Hall comes back with Coyle that line with Bertuzzi on it could be a heck of a line and very productive . I will add have seen some flashes of Bertuzzi that he looks good but also think he looks a little out of sync at times and this is coming from someone who has always liked his game . I do think we might see the best of him play come playoffs , we can only hope......... lets be honest there is a lot of options on this team and we can have helluva time watching this play out.......

Scoreboard: One fluke goal, one. Surprisingly a plus-2 with his poor d. Must help to be on a strong team.

Bertuzzi is killing it with Pasta. Really want to see him sign a long-term deal here. If it means trading Hall, so be it. And I really like Hall.

Pretty much every winger Pasta has had the past few years has killed it with him though. Before Bertuzzi it was Zacha rocking the other wing. Last year it was Hall making magic with Pastrnak. The few seasons before it was Marchand.

This is more Pasta than it is anyone else. No disrespect to the other guys.

That line has been killing it of late. I wonder if they'll ride the hot line into the playoffs and move Krejci down a line

Marchand -- Bergeron -- DeBrusk

Bertuzzi -- Zacha -- Pasta

Hall -- Coyle -- Krejci

Frederic -- Nosek -- Hathaway

If Hall really needs surgery this off-season I wonder how hard it will be to move him

It would throw a spanner in the works, for sure. But I think they at least have to make a play for Bertuzzi. He's been awesome the last couple of weeks, and he and Pasta have something special. And he's only 28.

Things to worry about later, and I think the odds are still in favor of Bert being a rental only. But hey if he leaves here with a ring, then that will be just fine!
