Interesting. I just recently read the book for the first time and I couldn’t help but think that they nailed the casting except for Frodo/Elijah Wood.
I can’t deny that Frodo ended up being the lamest character in all of the movies lol. I don’t really mean the casting itself, I mean bringing the overall aesthetic towards something…less ridiculous.

I was hardcore into The Silmarillion, some of the artwork was cool but people always imagine fantasy novels as so damn hokey.

The Silmarillion was really tough to read. I wouldn't even attempt all of those names at this point in my life. I'd be in a corner drooling and talking to myself.

Season 9 of Blacklist — sans Lizzy — ought to be good. Love me some James Spader.

Started watching Power this week, a few years old now .....it's quite a show so far. Haha....definitely give it an R rating but it's easy to follow and entertaining . Every now and then I like watching something where very little is left to the imagination LOL....it ran for a few years so this might hold us until Christmas for our binge fix.

Tomorrow movie night @ home with wife. Last season people posted the gif with those guys dancing in the GDT, what movie is that from? Always wanted to see that movie, I know it's not much to go buy, hopefully someone remembers.

I feel like this is the closest to a relevant thread for this, but:

My wife and I saw Hadestown last Friday (Broadway show, not the national tour), and it was....absolutely incredible. Truly deserving of all the Tony Awards and more.

When was the last time you watched Beetlejuice? So I recently watched it and well, town was just down the hill. They could’ve walked and the movie would have never happened. And no , Alec Baldwin killing his co-worker did not make me watch this. Its Halloween, horror movie time :)View attachment 473843

Side note- the hardware store is right there, a block away from the church. Also don’t get me started on the leg strength of the pup running around town. He stopped for the pup who ultimately killed the both of them by jumping off the wood plank, haha
Haven't watched it in a long time but I did watch a retrospective Youtube video on it the other week. Such a good movie. Late 80s-early90s Tim Burton (Beetlejuice, Batman, Edward Scissorhands) was so good.

Three weeks and no posts? Man, I really had to look for this thread. Y'all just watching and re-watching the Rangers games?

Anyway:

Yellowstone (Season 4) - yeah, it's not realistic, but it's F-U-N to watch.
Invasion (Apple+) - halfway through and it's pretty good. Worth the watch.

Matrix 4 might just be the straw that breaks my back into paying for HBO Max.

anyone check out the Wheel of time trailer that dropped? It looks fantastic and def should be a watch for any fantasy fans.

I've been watching it. So far, so good. I've read all the books, starting back in the early 90s. If you're expecting another GoT though, you'll probably be disappointed. WoT doesn't have the same gritty feel. Magic plays a much bigger part in the story and the effects could be better, but overall I think they've done a good job with it.

I've also been watching Hawkeye and I really like it. Anyone else watching?

I'm enjoying WoT too. Not a book reader so not worried about everything that comes with that.

Wheel is not GoT. Its going to have dark moments, but its literally the opposite of GoT. GoT subverted the fantasy tropes, Wheel improves on them and makes them more "real".
Wheel is more dark lord of the rings than anything else.

That being said its been very good so far, and 6-8 are likely going to be the best 3 episodes.

Yeah. I'm trying to remember everything from The Eye of the World, but it's been almost 30 years since I read it. It's just such a big story. I wonder where they will end up cutting.

Have you watched The Foundation? If so how do you compare it vs. Invasion

Sorry for the late reply - I've watched only a single episode of Foundation and I just finished Invasion so it's hard to compare. I really liked the way Invasion tied three separate story lines together and the scope and mystery are very well done. Really recommend it.

Just came across this video on YouTube where Larry David (at about. 4:15) talks about how he tapes the Rangers games and was mad at a friend for spoiling it before he could watch. Between this and him on Michael Kay a couple years ago correctly complaining about Quinn's usage of Kakko in a game, it's pretty cool that Larry David is an active Rangers fan lol.

Wife and I watched Snowpiercer last night (the movie, not the show) and it was pretty good/fun. It's leaving Netflix on Jan 1st for those who want to catch it.

"It was a perfect call!"
