Many Saints: I didn't think it was great, but I liked it. The whole time I kept thinking that it would make for an interesting series. As a standalone movie, meh. As a standalone Sopranos movie, the nostalgia was cool.

Best acting and camera works I've seen and remember in a very long time.

I actually need a philosophical round table after watching it.
Just wrapped up Squid Game. Good thrill ride.

Watching Servant and Chapelwaite on Apple TV. Both pretty entertaining. Servant especially.

I haven't watched it yet...but I mentioned what you said to a friend and she agreed with you 100%. Gonna give it a look-see today.

I'm critically pissed at the ending and the lack of critique of Korean capitalism.

The ending was a bit of a downer, as was the ultimate motivation of the game, which is definitely not a new premise. I can name a way different genre, two-worded movie that explored the same premise. And, well, there are plenty of other comparisons and mash-ups that already have been identified in the media. And, I caught on to the twist that occurred at the end like around ep. 6.

Tell me the name of the movie, pls.

Hard Target lol

Looking back, I should have said that it makes a similar societal critique rather than same premise. The premise is different.

Dune was great. Really fantastic visuals and acting. Just wonderful all-around.
I'll wait for it to hit on demand, but from the trailers it looks like someone's passion project. It's got that vibe as opposed to a movie with going- through-the-motions look and feel.

It’s more than that. It’s a passion project backed by an infinite supply of budget, talent, and creative freedom. Somewhat like when The Fellowship of the Ring came out.

People could never imagine Frodo Baggins as anyone other than Elijah Wood (and thank god for that if you’ve seen any Lord of the Rings artwork pre-2001…)

Kyle McLachlan (bless the man) is no longer Paul Atreides, I can tell you that much.

When was the last time you watched Beetlejuice? So I recently watched it and well, town was just down the hill. They could’ve walked and the movie would have never happened. And no , Alec Baldwin killing his co-worker did not make me watch this. Its Halloween, horror movie time :)

Side note- the hardware store is right there, a block away from the church. Also don’t get me started on the leg strength of the pup running around town. He stopped for the pup who ultimately killed the both of them by jumping off the wood plank, haha

Currently watching:

Succession (HBO) - you know, I could actually see high end corporate America actually being like this messed up family - bunch of back stabbing selfish assholes. Great watch, though.

Atypical (Netflix) - wife is school psychologist so watching episodes of this here and there. The guy playing (is he playing) a high end autism student is outstanding and Jennifer Jason Leigh, whose character I detest in the show, is also fantastic. Good stuff to watch with the other half.

Haven't watched Dune (HBOMAX) yet, but I will - if you've read the books it's an incredibly complex feat to pull off in a film but if as much love when into this as Jackson did with LOTR, then I can see it happening since it only covers 1/2 of the first book. Hold your breath, though, because a 2nd film isn't a reality yet.

Interesting. I just recently read the book for the first time and I couldn’t help but think that they nailed the casting except for Frodo/Elijah Wood.
