TSN690 has been terrible for a long long time - Melnick has been the only “pro” on the station for the last decade plus.

The illiterate from Ville LaSalle brought little intelligence to the station to begin with.
seems kind of personal, he brought inside information as he did have sources, as well as entertainment and commentary that wasnt vanilla.

Ill take that over 95 % of the hosts are offering today.

I like articulation & intelligence, which is what I’ve been able to get from WFAN since moving down here, I’m not looking to be “entertained”.

Melnick’s the only one who provides it on TSN690, Marinaro provides none of it, never has - sounds like an illiterate buffoon, which might be ok for Joey from Jean-Talon fish market but that’s not what I’m looking for…

BTW - I don’t care if that sounds elitist because I’m perfectly content being elitist

I don’t blame Marinaro, he’s simply a symptom of lack of talent and ability that exists in present day Mtl Anglo talk radio - any and all “real” talent head to Toronto or the US for far better opportunities. It’s also why TSN690 is on its last legs before Bell shuts it down

I might be in minority , but listening to Andy and especially eric macramalla is way way more rewarding then that shouting tony and his no iq guests like Norman
Macramella is absolutely putrid.......I've turned it off.......from 10 to 3, there is absolutely nothing.

Sean Campbell is Vanilla, like boring vanilla, but Macramella is pure boring vanilla.......this station is no longer worth listening to after 10.....

I never would've thought there would be a day where Salikas was the best host prior to Melnick coming on......

I just realized nilan is doing podcast as well.

I see a pretty Intriguing list of guests including chelios, Kerry Fraser, Claude Lemieux, msl, Milbury etc...

Sounds like this one will be right up my alley.

Melnick said yesterday that his show will soon be starting at 2pm instead of it's regular 3pm start time and will run from 2-6 instead of 3-7 like it is right now.

Not really sure when this change will come into effect but I thought he said when Andi starts full time on his show on June 20th, which I think is her full time start date.

He didn't mention what was gonna happen with the old Marinaro or Nilan time slots but I suspect we'll get even more Campbell now and he'll probably end up doing the entire time slot between 10-2 but that's just a guess on my part. If that happens that should make many here happy. :sarcasm:

Melnick had Aaron Ward in studio all day yesterday and also for Habs lunch and I quite enjoyed listening to both shows with him in studio yesterday.

Mapper is a riot. And he sure loves his women, hehehe.

I'll try to find the clip but the one where Mapper is with his son in his kitchen (the one where JiC tells him he looks like his mother), the kid crabs a candy that is shaped like a condom and JiC without missing a beat "Y viens-tu t'sortir un condon lui-là?"

I'll post it if I find it.

Moving Melnick's show to 2-6 pm means one less hour of local radio to pay for. It's now 6 am to 6 pm. I remember maybe 5(?) years ago or so it was 6 am to 1 am of original local programming on 690. I wouldn't be surprised if Tony's move wasn't related to the cost cutting and not just him wanting to concentrate on his podcast.

The Morning and Drive shows have the strongest roster of guests. Not surprised they are tightening up on the mid-day shows which were always the weakest IMHO. Nilan might not have been the best on radio but he had connections and got good guests. Now that's gone.

All that said, Andie will be a good addition. I've enjoyed her contributions so far.

An entertaining hack, the station is unbearable without Tony and Chris.
I dunno I never listened to those two and found myself exactly thrilled, and I found knuckles at 1 was like eating a big meal at lunch and feeling exhausted at work for the hour or 2 afterwards. Just more a drain then an actual entertaining segment

Who’s this Macramella guy? Where does he come from?
His co-hosts have mentioned a few times that he has a successful law practice. Not sure how he has time to also do sports radio or what his connection is but I actually enjoy his showman abilities and sports takes more than many of the usual suspects on 690.

There has been some guy named Beaker doing shows a few times recently and he's awful.

I disagree, Nilan and Campbell were a great duo, and having the Habs lunch with Marinaro and Nilan with other guys chiming in was great. Listening to Marinaro’s hot takes was entertaining. The good old days of 690
