Has any guest on 690 been a bigger windmill than Adam Ward while offering a minuscule amount of anything salvageable? The guy would be a great warm up act for a comedy club but beyond that, he’s just loving listening to himself talk.

Darren Dreger?

In terms of empty content, Dreger can have anyone beat however his segments tend to be short and intermittent when compared to Ward who rambles on from 25-30 mins weekdays on 690. Five days of Ward saying mostly nothing and drawing from his time in the NHL as his go-to rebuttals and arguments.

He occasionally offers interesting anecdotes but they too get old the more you listen. He’d be fun at a bar but as a hockey pundit, I don’t get the sense that there is a whole lot of prep going into his segments. Guy has the gift of gab, if only he’d put it to better use. Seems like he’s content just doing the bare minimum.

Speaking of bare minimum, I have not listened to 690´s morning show in a long time until doing so this morning. Starr and McKenna are just not compelling as hosts — I thought they’d get better over time but instead, they’re still churning the same type of material and sounding boring.

Meantime, Paul Houde and Gilbert Delorme airing during the same time slot, are more entertaining and generally feature great guests (save for Reggie the Ethnophobe).

Another reason why I just stopped bothering with even tuning in. They kiss his butt and he loves it. Juvenile getting drunk jokes to go with Melnick’s juvenile weed jokes. Frat boy hour when he’s on. So cringe.

Drouin's comments about playing in Montreal seem very unfair and cheap given how much support he recieved from Habs fans, the Habs organization, and the entire Habs media ecosystem.
What did he say other than he thought he was ready to be the homegrown star but then going through it realizing he wasn't ready. Allan Walsh had a lot to say about the challenges of playing Montreal but he has an opinion on every topic especially when it comes to the players he represents.

Btw is Still off melnicks show?
Didn’t see anything about him.

All these amateurs that 690 propels from their station into the broadcast booths of local pro sports teams to do PxP all suffer from the same affliction — they don’t call games, they scream them senselessly, exaggerating every turning point. These guys believe that being loud is what broadcasting is about.

And then you have to constantly hear promos featuring their atrocious calls as if their screaming adds anything to the action. I can understand a TV replay but what could be possibly be compelling about a radio replay featuring John Still or the Milquetoast Campbell yelling their lungs out?

Well, ouch.

Is that ad ever getting air time. They’re probably overtaking the time allotted to the Kars4Kids spot.
