Only one game in but I thought Victor Findlay did a good job on play-by-play last night. Seems like a good addition to the crew. Don't understand what happened to Sergio, though I also like JP O'Connor and John Goyens is knowledgeable though I know less about him.

I still don't understand why, in a city that is debatably the world's capital of hockey, they can't find an ex-NHL'er who wants to get into the media industry and who could fit in their budget in exchange for bit of experience in hope of eventually getting a TV gig. Apart from Aaron Ward, who is only a regular guest, they seem to be getting rid of NHL players, rather than accumulating them.

Today with John Still gone, they again had in Melnick's pal Terry Haig who can barely get through a sports update without stumbling over words. I don't think there is a radio show that is more self-indulgent than Melnick in the Afternoon. Though there is still lots to like about it (mainly due to guests), I dread the thought of how much we're going to be forced to hear about his Billy Bob music gala for the next couple of months. Not to mention the fixation with Dan Bern (less is more). I'm a long time listener but reaching the breaking point and listening less. Prefer the Morning Show at this point.
Victor Findlay has the voice, could be a good replacement. JP & JG are both knowledgeable. Goyens is a longtime minor hockey coach and the son of Chyrs Goyens who wrote the famous book on the Habs Lions in Winter.

Melnick had his old roommate Elliot Price on today. When Price was on 990/690 seemed like every conversation turned to baseball. So guess what they discussed? How about those 1960's Orioles! Does Melnick realize that an entire generation never saw an Expos' game? At least the Habs are back so that should dominate their schedule.

I'll never criticize Delorme as him and his wife are adopting and taking care of children with mental and physical disabilities. He's got a free pass with me.
I never questioned his good character or morals so I have no idea where you’re coming from with that comment. From a pure radio entertainment standpoint, he fits Houde better than he does Ben Roger is all.

Where did Momesso go? How can somebody like that leave after so many years without any explanation by the station? It’s bizarre.
Wondering if this was a precursor:

I remember him doing work for the restaurant earlier in the year. Maybe Momesso has decided to walk away from it all and enjoy his money.

Wasn't he an owner of one of the restaurants? The man has been on the road travelling since he was a kid, maybe time to relax a bit.

That place has really gone down the drain.

It’s barely open anymore and it’s just not the same - you do get the sense they’ve let it go

The asking price for Momesso’s says something. Who will possibly want to buy that? Maybe all it’s worth is its depreciated equipment value. Considering what they’re asking, they should just liquidate the equipment and buy out the lease if there is one.

A Sergio Momesso sighting — he’s now pimping tapenades!

Noticing from his X feed that he’s been doing the tapenade thing over several months now, getting them into several stores.

Flipped on to Melnick and heard the sweet sounds of Garland Jeffreys' I'm alive and wondered, could Knuckles be coming on? Sure enough, he has a new second podcast where he talks to non sports types who have had some tough times. Sounds interesting, he had Mickey Rourke on one podcast. He also went for a cte test and will donate his brain posthumously, like Bob Probert and others have. I miss that guy, was good to hear him.

It’s her fantasy. Yours may vary.

Better to rely on someone trained in the divinatory arts. :sarcasm:

I must say I get a good laugh when gallo gets "Hank the Drunk Tank" on the radio. funny

To me, Gallo and « good laugh » are mutually exclusive concepts although it sounds from your post as if this Hank guy doesn’t need the garden gnome — he’s entertaining all his own.

Sad that this happened — it’s more common to see stores robbed in the US these days.

I don’t get how Laraque doesn’t even have HD security cameras in his place of business.

And of course, Twitter-X delivers with the ultimate comebacker (for those not listening to Laraque’s show, Gonzo is Laraque’s co-host and a user quipped that the robber looks like Gonzo. Robber does have a similar build to Gonzo).

Laraque’s a genuinely good guy, I hope they nab the culprit.
