Value of: Trouba

Probably not gonna happen but what about a 3 team

Kreider to Buffalo w extension
Trouba to NYR w extension
Sabres 1st , DeAngelo, Thompson to Jets

I’m sure later picks involved somewhere to balance it out
No need for Thompson, so he would need to be replaced with probably a good 2C prospect.

Didn't realize 'the point of the NHL season is to win the Stanley cup' was a hot take

You new to following hockey or something?
Letting an ascending top pairing stud d man walk for nothing in his mid 20s is the hot take there chum. I can’t believe this is even a thought. A lot more obtuse jets fans out there than I realized.

It's true. However if all that is offered is a 2nd rounder I'd keep Trouba for the season. Since that is not the case and lots of these offers are better than that I'd rather trade him.

How's Winnipeg going to win a Cup without him? They aren't getting equal value (or players) back.
Jets likely aren't goin to win with him unless we can get our missing 1b centre spot filled. Probably better to get a 11th oa pick draft that centre and go for it after next season. Especially if we can get a decent prospect at D to go with that high pick.

Trouba is a good player. At 25, he's not really "young" by today's NHL standards. And in a Cap league, there's major liability with a guy on the cusp of entering his FA years. Trouba has 4 points in his last 23 playoff games .... He has one 50 point season with 8 goals ... his next best is 33 points. His stats beneefit from playing for one of the best regular season teams in the league.

I am a Flyers and Canucks fan mainly, and I wouldn't be too keen on either team giving up the 10 or 11 pick this year ALONE for Trouba. This is a great draft and you are getting a player at that pick who has a good chance to be as good as Trouba, but you are also getting all of that player's discounted salary years, which has HUGE value. Neither, the Flyers nor Van are winning the Cup next year, so they can wait for the guy they get with this year's first rounder to develop. Trades and player valuations just can't be done without Cap considerations anymore.

I would do everything possible to involve Trouba (signed to whatever he and NYR agree to) in a package for the NYR no 2 pick. If it means including Roslovic, might be the price to pay.If it's Kakko at no 2, he would be what WPG needs to give Laine a kick in the butt to get going - another Finn and possibly a Finn on the same line. Even if it's Hughes at no 2, all is well.

That pick is not on the market. End of story.

Why the Jets be interested in moving 1 year of Trouba coming off a 50 point season for 1 season of Kreider coming off 52 point season? Do you people just put zero thought into your proposals?

I think many are under the impression Trouba won't resign in WPG.
I don't think you are going to get a haul for the guy.
I felt one year of Kreider for 1 yr of Trouba was relatively sane.
I mean it isn't quite Trouba for a 4th so lets not be so melodramatic.

and the 2OA is not available.

When I went all teams trought with certain things:

- Team not located in Canada
- Team not in salary cap problems
- Team not having a surefire better 1st PP quarterback

Preferable teams left for Trouba

- Anaheim
- Detroit
- Islanders
- Devils

After these teams, the decision falls on the trade-package which anyone has to give to fill Jets' current holes.

From an Islanders perspective Trouba for Pulock might make sense(assuming we can resign Trouba). While Trouba has more value, Pulock contract which still has 2 years before he hits UFA would be an equalizer

That would be a possibility with an add from the Islanders.

Of course, all the speculation is assuming Trouba wont sign in Winnipeg.

Not sure what constitutes "a haul" in your mind. He is a 25 year old top pairing RHD coming off his best season offensively, hits, plays PK...those types rarely come available. Every team is looking for that. Few teams have one. Even if a team trades for him and cant sign him to a new contract he could be traded at the deadline and likely would return a 1st, a top prospect and another asset. Just look at what Kevin Hayes was traded for and realize Trouba is way more valuable.

Kreider is not worth Trouba.

And of course, the 2nd overall is not available.

Why would Chevy trade an ascending top pair stud d man in his mid 20s for peanuts? May as well have a top pair stud on your playoff run if you all you’re gonna get for him junk.

Winnipeg is the only good fit for him in terms of his game, but the situation of him not wanting to play in Canada is a key factor here.

In the US I think Detroit is the best overall fit for him.

No thanks. You'd be better off targeting a lesser defenseman.
I agree on the players I mentioned minus Zacha . Him plus a pick is good value imo. He is a big bodied Center that plays on the devils 1PK and the last 1/3rd the season was showing very nice progression of his offensive game. I am somewhat biased as a Devils fan but I don’t think it’s a crazy proposal.? Zacha and a 2nd?

That is a definite no!

Trouba is a great dman but even Erik Karlsson didnt cost anywhere that much. Rather an offers sheet would be so much cheaper.
Trouba would never sign an offer sheet if he really wants out of Winnipeg. It would leave the Jets with an option to match and thus keep him in Winnipeg for up to 7 years.

Nope. You're dealing for a young #1 RHD. A 3C and a second doesn't even get you a call back. It would need to be built around Severson, I would imagine.
