Value of: Trouba

The player holds all the cards,WPG to get better value needed to trade him earlier...Now a year out from UFA,the Jets dont have much leverage left

I agree on the players I mentioned minus Zacha . Him plus a pick is good value imo. He is a big bodied Center that plays on the devils 1PK and the last 1/3rd the season was showing very nice progression of his offensive game. I am somewhat biased as a Devils fan but I don’t think it’s a crazy proposal.? Zacha and a 2nd?
That is for Trouba? Maybe not a crazy proposal (if you believe Zacha can be more than a third line C/LW) but certainly not good value.

Trouba is a good player. At 25, he's not really "young" by today's NHL standards. And in a Cap league, there's major liability with a guy on the cusp of entering his FA years. Trouba has 4 points in his last 23 playoff games .... He has one 50 point season with 8 goals ... his next best is 33 points. His stats beneefit from playing for one of the best regular season teams in the league.

I am a Flyers and Canucks fan mainly, and I wouldn't be too keen on either team giving up the 10 or 11 pick this year ALONE for Trouba. This is a great draft and you are getting a player at that pick who has a good chance to be as good as Trouba, but you are also getting all of that player's discounted salary years, which has HUGE value. Neither, the Flyers nor Van are winning the Cup next year, so they can wait for the guy they get with this year's first rounder to develop. Trades and player valuations just can't be done without Cap considerations anymore.
Having a #10-12 pick turn into the player Trouba has been and is now is an absolute dream scenario. He's a real top pairing RD and will be for several more years. The likelihood that a #10-12 pick becomes that is low, even in a strong draft year.

A signed Stone netted us one A level prospect and a 2nd round pick, maybe the Jets do a little better as Trouba is a RHD ,but in and around that value is likely what he should fetch

Leverage comes from competition. A poster on the Jets board with some NHL connections says he's heard that several teams are very interested in Trouba. It will only take two or three teams being interested for the Jets to get a solid return.

Stone refused to sign elsewhere. In the end, there was very little trade competition for him and the Sens got the best they could from the one team that had a shot at re-signing him.

Yep ,and he gets to choose whom he wants to sign an extension with...Look at what Stone got back,an A level prospect and a 2nd rounder....Thats in and around where I have trouba,s value

Trouba wants to be traded and to cash in next season. His agent has previously indicated he would help facilitate a trade. I think it's highly unlikely that Trouba will only focus on one team, because if he binds the Jets and they can't get a good trade return he's looking at another arbitration deal and another season in Winnipeg. I'd bet he'd be happy in a few places... Detroit, NY, Florida, California.

So like Stone then??

Lots of reports that the Jets were after Stone but cooled when he refused to discuss contract extensions with them. Also, Dale Tallon reported that they were after him but Stone refused to discuss a contract extension so they moved in.

No need to get all defensive ,but thinking you will trade Trouba and get back equal value is naive...It sucks but the players have more say in where they go ...And Trouba,s list wont be 4 or 5 teams in the end

Stone was a couple of months from UFA. Trouba is looking at another arbitration hearing and then a full year in Winnipeg. There has been time for everyone to consider options and I'd bet the Jets have interest from a few teams, and Trouba is likely to be open to more than one team.

Reports, nothing concrete...Again Stone didnt have to sign an extension right away with LV,the very fact he chose to...Should indicate he was also trying to help Ottawa facilitate a trade.....

You hope.....In the end you will lose any trade you make for him ,it sucks but what can you do he doesnt want to be in WPG

I think that if Trouba doesn't agree to an extension immediately then weight see a trade with conditions based on whether he re-signs. Teams that are somewhat confident they can re-sign him will be in the mix.

The Jets made a decision a few years ago to keep Trouba for a couple of playoff runs, and he proved to be high value for that. Now it appears they'll get as much value as possible in a trade. A fairly rational approach.

Now we'll see how many teams like Trouba, as that will set the trade price.

...and teams trying to acquire him "hope" that he only wants to sign with them, but I think that's a more distant hope.

Yep,like I stated the return for Stone a top line winger was a A level prospect and a 2nd round pick, maybe the Jets do a little better as Trouba is a RHD ,but cant see any team paying much more

To gain the best possible package is tricky as team will want to talk contract with him first, then it will be up to the team to decide if they pony up huge or wait until he is a UFA ....Its not a fun place to be ,overstating valuation is a fools game ....Just hope for the best but expect the worst is how Jets fans should just play it now...

Trouba at the trade deadline should return an A level prospect and a 1st from a contending team. At the draft - with a full year to play before reaching UFA status - Trouba will return more than that. For starters, at the deadline non playoff teams are not acquiring players on expiring contracts. At the draft, those teams are in the trade mix = more potential suitors.

Dont do this to yourself man....Just let it ride ,there is no way you will know how much and how many team will seriously be interested....Right now the bar on a top end player ,that is involved in a sign and trade is a A level prospect and a 2nd

I can’t remember many rentals fetching a Grade-A prospect + 1st pick...do you have some examples in mind?
