NYR in no way are trading Zib, Chytil or Miller.
Zib is a #1C, he isn't going 1 for 1 for Trouba,

The same reason the NYR did just that to get the rights to Adam Fox. Everyone knew Fox was heading to NYC in a year. The Rangers ponied up to get him a year earlier.

Wouldn’t surprise to see a trade and sign with Trouba.

I agree it will be a trade and sign but some Jets fans are acting as if it's up to the buying GM to pay this extra phantom extension value.

Look through the Trouba threads and you will see some fair trades, not sure why some are expecting 3 premium assets for him. It doesnt happen.

Zibanejad is worth a lot more than Trouba with 1 year before ufa. Trouba is pretty much a rental at this point and zibanejad has 3 years left on a great contract.

the only way Zib gets moved is if for some reason the management doesn't see him as part of their rebuild/future and want to maximize his value coming off a career year and before his trade clause kicks in. otherwise makes 0 sense. it'll take a huge overpay.... trading a 1c for 1rd is creating one hole to plug another

How is McDonagh a comparable? He was traded on February 26th (at which time, he was 28, not 27) we're talking about 4x more games, a better player, playing a more valuable position (rhd vs lhd) for longer minutes, in more situations who is 3 years younger.

They both have brown hair, though.

Edit, I forgot to mention that Trouba scored 50 this season and his "comparable" never has.

Why the Jets be interested in moving 1 year of Trouba coming off a 50 point season for 1 season of Kreider coming off 52 point season? Do you people just put zero thought into your proposals?

Trouba is RFA so not sure on his actual value although if he goes elsewhere I’d expect a long extension as part of the deal

I haven't seen this mentioned yet but while Niku shoots left he prefers playing on the right side and refers to himself as a RD. Many Jets fans see him as a future top 4 RD. He has offense to burn he just doesn't have the defensive chops at this point in his career. Next season and maybe longer he will need to be sheltered on the bottom pairing IMO. Saying that a short term solution to the right side makes sense, but not as the whole return for Trouba.

Samberg looks like a future defensive stud at LD, who could partner with an offensive RD like Niku, maybe on a second pair.

There are extremists within every fanbase, so i'm not sure which returns you are thinking about...but some Leafs fans are looking at Kadri like a cap dump...and other fans feel Gudas straight up is fair....that doesn't seem like asking for the moon....does it?

I am not about to start discussing kadri's worth or look for any of the expectations on his worth.

there are multiple kadri trade threads, they are not hard to find.

in my opinion trouba is worth most of the requested returns, he may not get it because he is limiting the teams he will go to.

on any competitive team there are better options than kadri for a bottom 6 forward.

he is on a decent salary I guess

Yes the most logical trade scenario is Trouba is traded with an agreed to extension in place. You may need to set your sights on a lesser defenseman of you don't want to give up a good prospect though.
