are teams allowed to talk to RFAs, since they are 'free agents'?

He would seem like a player a GM would want to talk to just to be super-sure that he'd be willing to sign, and for a fair number

Yes this would occur behind the scenes whether its technically allowed or not. Chevy would allow it to get a deal done.

Yes, every GM is allowed to negotiate with Trouba's camp.

Chevy and Winnipeg isnt an idiot. This isnt a star with a big contract like Kessel or Phaneuf.

Trouba is a young player on the rise who can be a star. If he gets traded it will be for a big return, probably more than what HF thinks he is worth.

There is no way in hell he gets what HF thinks he is worth. Have you seen some of the proposals on here?

Random guess, Minnesota trades Brodin for him.

Not a chance without a contract in place. If his demands are really as high as rumored the Wild couldn't afford him, or at best could just afford him with a 21-22 man roster.

Have you seen the proposals? HF think he's worth way more than he is.
And Trouba wants a big contract, so you can put him in the league of a Kessel.

The return for the PEG will be less than their fans are thinking and Trouba's salary will be under 5 mill per, maybe 4mill.

It wouldn't be the first time an Overhardt RFA negotiation got a nasty "this is our offer" rebuttal from the team.

He scuttled things with PHX and Turris - Turris got traded.
Butted heads with VAN over Kesler.
Butted heads with CBJ over both Rychel and Johansen (and some may say that partially led to Johansen being traded, and tension with Rychel that led to being traded).
Had Dubinsky miss a week of training camp with NYR.

This guy seems like a little bit of a pain to work with, as a GM.

Spurgeon is better than Trouba, beloved by the Wild management, and by Suter. Why would you think we covet Trouba over him ? They are also very happy with Scandella. No need to trade straight up for Trouba. He simply isn't an upgrade. Adding picks is a joke.

Wild will only be trading LH Dmen for FORWARD upgrades. If someone wants to cook up a three way, then go at it. We spent months doing that with the Hamonic situation.

The Trouba contract situation matters, and quite a bit, to the Wild. They are tight against the cap, and no way are they going to give Trouba significantly more than their other top 4.

JVR to Minny, Trouba to Toronto, and Brodin to WPG. Win win situation for everyone. I still think Minny needs to add to Brodin though. I don't see him progressing any further.

Source? Link? Nothing but a wild guess? Thought so.

Maybe not 5 months but Chevy's asking price will definitely cause this to be drawn out longer than it should take and rightly so. All Chevy has to do is take a look back at how Yzerman and Snow approached the Drouin and Hamonic situation and know that the best option is to sit back and wait till the right off comes across the table or Trouba reconsiders his decision. No reason to let himself be forced to sell low on Trouba.

I think there could be a 3 way deal to be made with these teams, but I don't think Trouba would be the one in this deal without a +.

I was thinking

To wpg: Theodore + Ana 3rd

To Toronto: Trouba

To Ana: JVR

Theodore isn't for sale.

I find that hard to believe. Minny's wingers aren't very good w/ the exception of Parise and Coyle. JVR would be a massive upgrade.

We like Nino fine, and Granlund is switching to wing. Tuch is looking good in camp. Zucker need to come back this year. A one dimensional winger like JVR is not a need, especially for Brodin +.

Please don't tell us what we need. WPG and TO can get a room together and make a trade . Include MN out. We have a better #1 RD in Spurgeon.

What he's saying does make sense. People treat this like a court of law or journalism school instead of real life.

The Jets fans denying there was any rift are already eating crow, why continue being standoffish?
