At this point I don't care if sitting him lowers his value. Agents like Overhardt and RFA's
running to the media trying to force trades need to be sent a message.

Match offer sheets, ignore trade offers that aren't reasonable and bury this kids career if it doesn't help improve the Jets. Sometimes spite feels great !

Fun fact- Overhardt is the same guy who helped Kesler escape from Vancouver

...

As for whether this hurts Winnipeg's leverage in trade discussions, not really. We're going even younger this year, we have the Laine buzz, and we're not expecting this to be a serious playoff year. Chevy can wait until he gets his price like he always does.

You guys can throw out low ball offers all you want but ultimately, it's Chevy that cuts the deal and he's going to get his demands met eventually for a highly sought position.
...
I can see fans thinking this way, but Chevy and ownership would want to push for playoffs this season, I would think.

Somewhat related to the thread, but Rielly is CURRENTLY not a #1D, nor a #2D. He's a very good #3D right now. He has to get a LOT better defensively still to be in the top-pairing level. Trouba as well, he's a high-end #3D just like Rielly.

I just like Rielly's upside more than Troubas.

So you're basically saying Rielly is the same level as Trouba? That's just completely false. If North Americas best defenceman was a high end #3, boy that team had some good #3 and #4s on their team then

I think the right side thing is a cover up

Could be so Trouba doesn't look like a villain and still have the opportunity to resign in Winnipeg if this is just a negotiation tactic.

Not ruling him out of resigning just yet.

I would offer the 2017 first round pick and Griffin Reinhart from the Oilers. How's the value?

From an article :

“I would like to see the best players make our team,†Maurice said. “And if they’re all young guys, they’re all young guys.

“If that means, in the Central Division, that you’ve got to take a knock or two, I think that is the best thing for the organization.

Somewhere nice
Yup, because its true.

It is true, it plays factor that he was pushed to play in the top pairing now, as there are no one better.
Reilly is doing great though being on that spot now.

For Trouba, that what he wants he wants to be the guy but it is not happening for another 4 years with BUFF there. He also wants to play his natural side.

Possible trade is
TROUBA + one of the young players who is NHL ready fighting now in the JETS bottom 6 spot , maybe a pick.

For a player that is a tier above Trouba.

Maybe a left D.
But for my own personal choice, I would now try Morrisey on that spot. See how he does.
I want the Jets to secure one of the top 5 picks next year if that is even possible.
TROUBA is big lost in the line up now, but if Morrisey jumps in and does well , that will take some sting off.
Enstrom Buff
Morrisey Myers

The Jets released a statement. They still view Trouba as being a key part of the future of the Jets. LOL. So, the games continue. :)

Trouba to hold out the entire season until Las Vegas? It is debateable

I'd say no, but I don't think the Oilers will be a bad team this year, so the pick wouldnt be very good.
We say that every year  Davidson/Nurse + 1st? I would think Davidson would be a better fit but Nurse wouldn't have to be protected
