I’m not sure he’s the out of touch one. Athletes are still human, he’s right the constant criticism can lead to depression and can get worse from there.
It comes with the territory of being a pro athlete who makes 8 million a year. They always think they can take all of the good and none of the bad.

Athletes are entertainers. It's the massive industry built up around it, the media, the games, the podcasts, the talk shows, that keep fans interested and engaged (obviously the product itself being first and foremost) that allows them to do this dream job and become very rich while doing it.

If you can't handle a podcast saying you suck and you're dirty then don't play for the New York Rangers and get a marketing job in an office building for 70k.

Playing the suicide card here in response to criticism of his play style is incredibly weak and I'm glad he's rightfully being called out about it on his twitter post. The response is not going well for him.

“Extreme uncharitable disapproval”

Lmao the tone policing is off the charts. This is toxic, pathological empathy.
Wow so you're just diagnosing everyone today, huh? Must be something to have that level of insight into strangers' thoughts.

-Rodrigues elbow attempt at Wennberg earlier

-Svechnikov pulling a PK Slewban and trying to take out Shesterkin's legs
You could only be saying one of two things here:

1) Trouba is a saint who only applies the flying elbow/headshot when provoked to defend a teammate.

2) Every player on every team with a player who Trouba has targeted in the past should all target his head.

Pretty sad that anybody would take Pasha's side here, he is a shit-talking dweeb who publicly disparages athletes and would never in a million years say the same things face to face. Unlike Biz and Whit who know how to walk the line, this guy outright disrespects people.
It's pretty sad anyone would take Trouba's side. "I am going to go around intentionally trying to injure my fellow players and if anyone says I'm a dirty player I'll post suicide stats and publicly shame them under the guise of mental health and online harassment."

My only point is he should get off social media if he can't deal with all the negative comments. If that stuff is affecting his mental health, then dont go on Instagram/Twitter/Facebook etc.

Fact is unless you legislate hitting out of hockey entirely, there are always going to be questionable plays and players that toe the line. It's inherently a dangerous and violent activity.

I wouldn't go one step further and say that makes them morally bad people off the ice. There are few instances (Moore-Bertuzzi type of things) that really cross a line to where I would say implied consent is removed. "Normal" penalties and even "suspension-worthy" infractions alone don't get me to "wow, what a horrible human being" even if it sometimes means they are reckless as hockey players.

Where is the WMD elbow in that? Are we supposed to castrate big-rig defenseman for trying to step up on forwards that want to waltz through the NZ now?
"Step up" lol. He launched himself like a zooted out trapeze artist, the same way he did all those other (attempted) hits.

Truly what I found most comical about your initial post, was that Trouba only tries to make these hits out of some sense of retribution for supposed dirty plays by the opposition. That's just a plain lie, as shown above.

"Don't rightfully call this violent unpredictable douche a POS to his face or he might react like a violent unpredictable douche would" is certainly an interesting argument
My argument is that its really easy to act all high and mighty behind a computer screen, when in reality you’ve likely never had a confrontation like the one your describing in your life.

Perhaps if he stop acting like one , nobody would call him out.

So because he narrowly missed Nico and would have put Hischier in a wheelchair if he actually got him we just dismiss it? Lmao, this is exactly the shit that the SC clip was talking about. Chris Simon just died of CTE, most likely due to the stuff that happened in his playing career. Why didn't Trouba mention that in his tweet? Oh wait because he's one of the top reasons that guys are in the league are getting it with his reckless behavior.

Lot of fans of a franchise that employed Scott Stevens suddenly worried about headshots.

90% of Trouba's so-called "head shots" are legal hits that casuals who never played can't tell apart from headhunting. You don't know what you're looking at, sorry.

Trouba was 9 years old when Stevens played his last game and opinions have changed on concussions since 2004.

I think the SC rant is stupid, but Trouba obviously headhunts in the playoffs.

Pretty sure he feels like he has to at this point to justify his 8m cap hit since his play can’t do it.

Braining opposing players is his signature move. He’s a very good open ice hitter, it’s a skill.

For example Rempe can’t do it, guys need to slow down by the boards for him to have a chance to pull it off.
