LOL. Here is a hint for you. The GM of a team with an organizational plan to be a draft and develop franchise and to replace most expiring contracts in-house isn't going to be an active trader, FYI.

Scared? No. Following a plan, yes. Delusional to assume otherwise? Yes.

Whatever his reasons are for not being an active trader don't really matter to my point.

You have no reason at all to be so confident that he is going to "rob someone blind"

That is total delusion on your part. Total wishful thinking.

So... back to actual trade offers.

Zboril + Spooner + 1st?

How dare you try to make an offer in the Trouba trade thread.... Can we please get back to the riveting New York Rangers talk

:D

This thread is full of so much hot garbage that has zero to do with Trouba being traded haha

Chevy is a superb trader. So superb he doesn't do it often or he wouldn't get invited to the GM parties anymore. :naughty:

I doubt it. Given how long it took Winnipeg to trade Kane, there's almost no chance Trouba signs a long term deal if he wants out. That's basically him agreeing to be stuck there for years.

Yeah now i'm more inclined to think 1-2 years around $4 million per, Trouba more then likely gets dealt to an American team Chevy gets his haul for Trouba and the team getting Trouba gets a good deal for a year or two.

You claimed he was a scared GM because he doesn't make many trades. I explained why a GM that is drafting and developing players with the goal to replace expiring contracts in-house isn't going to be an active trader, and then you claim it doesn't matter. Surely you can see the hole in your argument?

Well, he has already robbed Buffalo once. It would be to his advantage to make a deal on his own terms and time-frame versus making a snap move now from a position of weakness. I suggested that Trouba does not exist within a vacuum and that it may be advantageous for them to make a multi-asset trade with a cap-strapped team to enhance their return, and you again are huffing sans any retort.

Who is worth more ?? Pacioretty or Trouba??

For me it's Pacioretty and easily. Which covers the fact that Ehlers worth more than Beaulieu, or almost. Maybe a pick would need to be involved.

But i sense the problem here is people think Trouba worths more than Pacioretty, which is impossible.

Trouba is a no.2 D at best. Let's say he is a no.2 on most of teams and no.3 on some. He is already trying to get out of the team that drafted him. Would want a salary higher than what he is worth.

Pacioretty is, a 35 goals scorer, no.1 LW on an incredibly stupid contract.

I don't know what Peg fans think Trouba is but he isn't worth Pacioretty.

Its not about value its about needs. It doesnt help what winnipeg is trying to do. Also we dont have room on the right side for trouba and were in canada so he wont come here period.

I can't see the hole because I don't see any reason to believe he rips teams off. He made one good deal with Buffalo, I remember. Congrats.

Whether he is scared to make trades or it is part of his plan, it doesn't matter. I see no body of work that shows me any reason you should be so confident that he is going to rob a team blind.

You've been sold a bill of goods by WPG management and you buy into it. That's your choice. Hope it works out for you.

I can see a one year deal. A two year deal takes him too close to UFA. A one year deal also means that, worst case, he is dealt at next years draft. A two year deal means his lady friend is stuck in med school limbo for god knows how long. If you have a wife or a serious girlfriend, you know that sounds like a living hell for Trouba.

I think it has to be 2 years.
1) Because it allows Trouba to minimize the financial impact that sitting out will have cost him. TSN said a few days ago that at 5.5m, Trouba was losing 30k a day which would be around 750k to date. EG: signing a 2 yr 3.5m contract, but back loading it (2m, 5m (or whatever)) will minimize his loses this season, while still giving him a very tradeable cap hit.
2) I don't see a chance that Winnipeg would want to go through the same **** in 6 months. At least then they can take him to arbitration, but overall it would just be a massive headache that I'm sure they'd like to avoid. Signing a 2 year deal gives them a little more breathing space.

He would be 2 years away from UFA, vs 3 years. Do you really think that makes much of a difference? As long as he's traded before that contract runs out, it shouldn't be an issue. What would be an issue is if he's still there 2 years from now.

So now you refuse to admit the poor logic behind your laughable claim that he is a scared GM. But you did admit that he has already robbed one team in trade. You are at least making some limited progress, kudos.

Have a nice day.

Given the previous Kane situation, and the lady friend factor, Trouba agreeing to a two year deal requires a lot of trust in Chevy that I don't see that he has earned.

Have a nice day.

Whether he is a scared GM or not, there is no body of work that should allow you to believe so confidently that he is going to rob a team blind. Why? because he made one good trade with Buffalo? I said he made a good trade. I didn't say he robbed anyone. Either way, that's one trade to point to. Most of his other trades have been for draft picks. Ho hum. Sticking to the plan, or being scared. There's really no way to tell for sure.

I mean hell, if he is such a wizard of a GM maybe his plan should change. Maybe he should make more hockey trades like the Kane/Myers deal. Then maybe WPG would have a prayer of actually turning things around and maybe even getting a playoff win.

He won't though because trading is not his strength. His track record proves he doesn't like to trade, for whatever his reasons are. Therefore I have no reason to believe he is going to rob someone blind in a Trouba deal.

Personally, yeah I think he is a little scared or timid to make moves. Team hasn't had any success yet he doesn't look to the trade market to change anything. Part of the plan perhaps, I think hes a little timid. There's no way either of us can prove if he is or isn't. It's my opinion.

I mean, he made one real trade, and it was favorable. I guess all of his trades from this point forward will be in the mold of "robbing" other GMs.

Torrey Mitchell has 5 goals on 9 shots this year. Will he shoot at a 55% clip the rest of the way?

In either case, probably not a great idea to extrapolate.

No, don't move the goalposts. You claimed he was a scared GM. Lets run with that.

You know what a scared GM would do? He would acquiesce to the demands of an agent that is arguing for rights he does not hold. A scared GM would fold and make a panic trade now at the least advantageous time. A smart GM would conversely take control of his asset and only deal it if and when he felt fully compensated by the return.

We'll see whether or not he is a scared GM by Dec 1.

True-ish, but I'm not sure how having a 1 vs 2 yr contract changes anything in that regard. A 2 yr deal is likely a lot easier to move then him being a RFA again next summer.

In addition A) it's going to take 2 parties to come to an agreement, and B) a 2 yr deal negates a lot of what he would have lost by sitting out so far. Remember, players have 10-18 years to earn as much money as possible. Trouba is likely in the 12+ range which is great... but losing 40% of a season when it can easily be negated seems odd. The second he decides he's going to sign a short contract everything is going to change from FU Winnipeg I want out, to okay, what's the best deal I can get that makes the most money and the most sense to me? A 2 yr deal something along the lines of 2m/5m (or whatever) does that.

What goal posts were moved? Hysterical how you Jets fans like to say how you won a argument or made someone move off their points. It's like if you say it then its true. Hysterical.

I'll say it again in case you were confused.

I think he is a scared GM. I'm running with it, proudly. Doesn't really make a difference in regards to what I originally responded to, though..

You are the one trying to turn the debate from your original point... you have no basis at all to believe so confidently that he will rob someone blind in a Trouba deal. None. Why don't you try and come up with a rebuttal for that one?

By the way, I also said that I don't think he will trade an unsigned Trouba. Just because he really has no reason too and he seems to be very stubborn, which is fine. He should dig in his heels, no reason at all to cave when Trouba is the one who is risking losing a season.

Good luck.

Sure, but it's not just about dollars and cents for Trouba, clearly. If it was, he would have just signed already. Besides, if he gets to keep his US lady friend she will add another 300k a year or so once she gets that MD.

This thread is mostly non-Jets fans talking amongst themselves now. So much so that I can't get a Jets fan to answer proposals of Zboril + Spooner + 1st or McAvoy + Spooner.

You claimed he is scared, by not making trades. I am saying that making a trade right now under the current circumstances is precisely what a scared GM would do.

I've already stated how he could win a trade with someone in a trade return for Trouba at some future date, by dealing with a cap-strapped team in a multi-asset deal that offers the other team cap relief and thereby enhancing the return to Winnipeg.

Am heading out the door now, that is why I wished you a nice day earlier.

Haha. To me, those seem like decent offers.

Then again, I'm not a jets fan, so the regrettable premise of your post remains true.

Made two of the biggest trades in the past two seasons, actually. Made out like a bandit in both.
