I'm thinking he sits the whole year, fi he doesn't want to play for the Jets if Jets can't find want they want.

What about a three way with wpg-col-car? Slight adds to even things out but Colorado gets defensive help, Carolina gets a solid #1 centre who's also young and wpg get their young LD.

Carolina - Matt duchene

Except that Hanifin is worth significantly more than Trouba (even if Trouba were signed), and Duchene is also likely worth a bit more than Trouba (again, even if Trouba were signed).

I should say I totally understand the Jets not selling Trouba for pennies on the dollar. Well within Trouba's right to ask for a trade and well within Chevy's right to say **** you.

A huge part of the problem is that the Jets don't want to trade Trouba unless it's for an upgrade. Most of the Jets fans proposals really make no sense... for example Trouba for Hanifin or Trouba for Lindholm. Maybe if the Jets start by adding a 1st, but they really overvalue Trouba (and lets be honest, even if Trouba were signed and playing, he's not worth Lindholm or Hanifin. While Trouba and Lindholm may not be terribly far off in value there's quite a gap between Trouba and Hanifin).

So they would rather let him go to the KHL until he is a UFA and lose him for nothing, than trading a player that doesnt wanna play for them? Just asking? Hasnt Trouba said that he isnt going to sign in Winnipig?

Sums it up pretty well. Then of course you have the overvaluation of Trouba to a point where even if offers for Trouba went from 75 cents on the dollar to a full dollar they'd still be unhappy. They want more than what he's worth. I mean Trouba for Hanifin 1 for 1...might as well try trading Trouba for McDavid while we're fantasizing.

I think players have been blessed (like winning the lottery) and are fortunate to be able to play a game for the money they make, and no matter how bad owners/the league is considered to be, as far as I'm concerned (after 40 years of watching hockey) players come and players go, and the game is bigger than the players


I also don't understand the vitriol of many posters (it seems completely unnecessary to me, and invalidates any comment being made IMO); I've read on multiple occasions essentially "that's what HFBoards is like" but to me that doesn't make it OK, and makes me sad about/disappointed in the state of hockey fandom
