29 other GMs lose nothing if Trouba sits at home refusing to play for the Jets.

Come on you just don't get it. The Jets are WINNING!!! Except they don't have one of their better players or an asset they could get for him and except on the ice. You are just missing the genius of Chevy.

I don't get Trouba's end game here. So not only do you demand a trade for x reason, but then you also want to dictate where you want or don't want to be traded/sign?

Hey if he really doesn't want to play in Canada, that's his right, but I guess his really willing to forfeit $5+ million this year.

For the next 4yrs we can say 6yrs at 5 mil sign or sit another yr. if he signs it will be for 6 yrs period. Trouts is getting bad advise from his agent.

If I was a vindictive GM, I would offer him 6 years x his qualifying offer from now on.:sarcasm:

Good thing I am not vindictive; however, I suspect that the offer will be under five million now or lower since the Trouba camp is now trying to effectively taint the process.

Trouba signs soon with Jets no Lindholm has or he sits and rots because no team is going to pay him plus give up something significant. He is good but not that good.

None of the other 29 teams are going to come bail the Jets out of this situation they are in by paying the asking price for Trouba in a trade.

Perfect... Trouba will be forced to change his tune in the next 5 weeks .... Zero reason for us to trade him for picks and prospects right now... We can get that at the draft after Trouba loses 5 mil and a year of UFA time... We get picks and prospects and teach Trouba a lesson win win... We are not a contender this year so is a few extra wins really gonna matter that much? Lol

If the Jets break him and he signs a new contract to play for the Jets, the Jets will suddenly find themselves with a player who does not want to play for their team in their locker room.

So, you are trying to what here?

Be reasonable.

I see your point however if team trading with Jets is receiving Trouba a right Dman which is valued more then a equal left handed counter part because of supply and demand how are they not helping themselves as well?

Here's a example proposal from me. Trouba for Fowler of Ducks and then Ducks can flip Trouba for whatever they like as a Right Dman worth more in trade market? Fowler solves Jets left Dman issue and is a capable replacement for Trouba??

I think you're exactly right.

A vast majority of people think that hockey trades are part of a zero sum game.

Someone loses, someone wins... not necessarily. The needs of both trading partners can be met, and both parties can win. I can think of examples off the top of my head, but they'd all be the subject of debate.

Let the ***** sit out for the season. Didn't want to play here? Shouldn't have signed out of the NCAA, if he would have stayed the full 4 years he could have gone wherever he wanted. Chevy should just let the little puke rot. As a fan I honestly do not care if we get a bag of pucks for him at this point.

Except Fowler meets none of our needs as defined by Chevy.

So the teams that have expressed interest (and excluding the Cdn teams) the options are:

Detroit
New York Rangers
Boston
Arizona
??? (Anyone else?)

If you think your getting that you and your GM are dreaming
Who gives up a top pair young cost controlled LD for a guy who's holding out with a god awful agent?
By that value you would need to get a guy like Rielly not going to happen
You can't even do that since he won't play in Canada by the sounds of it

IMO the priority of options are:

1) We get a young equally valuable LHD as return

2) Trouba signs with jets with understanding we trade him when the right deal comes up (see Kane trade).

3) We get a young BPA forward as return

4) We let Trouba sit out the entire year, this still helps us with all future RFA players moving forward. No one will call the jets bluff ever again.

5) Worse possible thing for the jets to do is trade Trouba for 50 cents on the dollar like fowler or picks or older players. Showing your weakness towards all future RFA players, this becomes more common in the Peg. IMO if any of these happen, it would be a huge strike vs Chevy and one big step towards firing him.

I'm not saying we will get a LHD, that's Chevy's original asking price. I wouldn't be surprised in the least Trouba is traded for the BPA (forward) at the 11th hour. Fowler isn't even a realistic return, that would be epically bad return.....sooner sit Trouba for a year (which has future benefits to the jets).

Then he will cost himself even more money in the long run lol

Jets are icing a very young team, they expected some rough spots. This doesn't mean they are looking to give up on any of their young players. Any of the following hold no real value to the Jets

Forwards - we already have more talented young forwards than we can play

Goaltenders - we already have 2 top goaltender prospects plus 2 more that look really good

Picks - we have lots of talent already in the system, you only have so many spots

RHD - already log-jammed

Bottom pairing D, AHL players etc - why give up assets for this?

If the above is all that's being offered we are better off using our control afforded in the CBA and force him to play.

McKenzie and Friedman, dating all the way back to June, have mentioned the Avs are interested in Trouba.

Man this thread is hilarious. I love how invested other fans are in Jacob Trouba and the Jets and the Jets fans. I can feel the love.

P.S. **** Trouba. I'd happily watch him rot for 5 years if I was Chevy. He couldn't possibly do more damage to his value if he tried. If he damages it enough, Chevy might just let him sit instead of trading him for magic beans.
