Lindholm gets 5.25
Rielly gets 5

Just send trouba an offer for fair market value based on these 2 contract

3.8-4.2 for 5 or 6 years and the contract is settled. Simple

He's clearly not getting as much as superior players like lindholm or Rielly, so just get it done

Good thing you will not need to deal with him on the leafs then. You guys dodged that bullet.

Ah...another Jet's fan fact. I guess i will file this just below:

Off season "There are no issues...he will sign!!"

Off season "He likes playing here...he won't demand a trade!!"

After neither of these happened:

"Chevy is going to trade him for a King's ransom!!"

"Teams will line up to trade a ton for Trouba!!"

Tick....tock....tick....tock

For what it's worth, those are Elliote Friedman's words, not Kevin Cheveldayoff's.

Yeah, I'm sure Friedge really wants to maximize the return for the Jets, while Cheveldayoff just wants to see a trade already because they make for good headlines. ;)

Remember when you were going around using the words of the locals to definitively tell everyone that Trouba wasn't on the block and didn't at all want out of WPG and was perfectly happy there?

Maybe you should think that when it comes to negotiations, hanging your hat on anything said publicly by anyone is rather risky.

Trouba spoke with reporters multiple times over the offseason and maintained that he was excited about signing with the Jets. That there was 'no doubt in his mind' that he'd be on the Jets' roster in training camp.

Using your examples, Rielly's overpaid.

I would happily give him the same deal as Rielly.

maybe they should be like Toronto and trade a top 4 possibly top 2 dman for nothing then be making proposals for top 4 dmen to Toronto the following year.

Actually, Ekblad is overpaid.....Rielly is market value and Lindholm is stupidly underpaid.

Seriously doubt that he would be interested in Edmonton either, Possibly the only Canadian team that Trouna might play for would be Toronto. And i even have my doubts there.

Toronto is an excellent hockey market, no question about it. On top of that they finally seem headed in the right direction with the changes in management and coaching. That said, it's a pressure cooker of a market to play in and does not do well with players under-performing. I expect Toronto is on far more no-trade lists than most Torontonians would ever care to admit. Yes, far less than Edmonton/Winnipeg without question but on a lot more than most would expect.

You didn't "speculate"...you stated he won't be coming to Toronto as fact.

Who? Dion? As good :)laugh:) as he may be, that contract was ugly and had to go...plus it was moving out the old regime along with Kessel etc.

Apologies, my original post was in response to aj800.

And he will not be. Toronto has nothing (who is available to be traded) to give the Jets that they need right now. Keep on wishing but it will not change the outcome.

Right, I am spending my days wishing for Trouba. He may or may not get traded to any of 29 teams...you have no idea which one...just as I or anyone else has no idea. Just like Jets fans have been wishing for a amazing return....maybe, maybe not.

You should perhaps dream about a new goalie, judging by this forum.......

Meh, i have zero misconceptions about the Leafs. Andersen will be fine. The defense will struggle. The kids need to learn the system and the team needs to gel.

I think most jet fans will be more than happy to have him re-signed because there is no equivalent LHD available. Even a signed Trouba is a gamble but one we're more than happy to take.

Guys, is Trouba for Puljujärvi completely out of the question?

Could Trouba reconsider where he wants to play with EDM looking like they have put it together?

That helps Oilers, not Jets. He doesn't play a position of need for the Jets and Jets don't need to get even younger. They need LD.

Trouba not signing is not about money he wants to play right side that is all I believe. I find it hard to believe with everyone looking for a right side Dman the Jets can't trade him for a left side Dman? You'd think teams be lining up sending quality left Dman offers???
